  1. I have the RMR mounted on my slide, about 1,000 rounds so far and its solid. Trijicon makes a dovetail mount, and I beleive DeltaPoint also makes a factory mount. The RMR is a lifetime warranty, and the DeltaPoint is also a generous warranty.

For my RMR I initially went with the SpeedShooterSpecialties dovetail mount for my M&P, a very solid mount. Once I knew this is what I wanted I just had my slide milled for a direct install.

  2. I built mine on the M&P platform so I could use the same pistol in uspsa (open), steel, and idpa (nonscore). Also I am in a mag restricted state, so it made cents to run with something that I can get stock mags for without having to destroy them to keep them legal.

  3. Found my problem. When I pulled the comp and put in the stock spring, everything ran fine. I then dropped in the lighter spring, and noticed some slight hangup as the barrel slid against the face of the block. It seems the cerakote is wearing off there, and the rough spot is just enough to cause problems with the lighter spring when cold.

Would it be safe to polish this up with some 600grit paper?

  4. I am using factory 115 rounds through my M&P 9 with a carver 3port comp. It may not be efficient, but the comp is definitely working with the factory loads and making a difference. I am also playing with springs to get it just right. The wolff 12 is a tad too light, the 14 a bit too heavy. The M&P uses the same springs as the G17.

I am now looking at trying an ISMI 13lb spring. If someone has one for trade, I have Wolff-Glock 10 and 11 lb springs I would trade both for the ismi 13lb. The 11 is new in the bag, the 10 has maybe 20 rounds on it.

Which comp do you have with 2 ports? That may be perfect for factory loads. I just dont have the time for reloading this year.

  5. When I did my install, I also had the safety lever not clicking into place. It looked like a point at the tip of that little lever that was getting hung-up. I made just a few passes with a file at the back of the safely lever in the trigger, and now it works fine.

Are you sure the RAM does not work with the FSS? The kit includes a different weight ram spring, which I used and everything seems to be running fine.

  6. How is the cheaper DAA Racer holster? To my untrained eye itlooks just like the

Can someone please tell me why everyone is going with the RM vs Racer? Is it just the Aluminum body or the ability to change weapons without a whole new holster?

um yeah you got it. RM is aluminium (looks and feels nicer) and has changeable inserts for different guns. for not much more money than the racer you get a more versatile rig.

my vote goes to the RM too, or the other I really like is the H&S CW5 (do NOT like the CW6, it's crap). lock is very nice and easy to use. still holds it securely without the lock. draw is very easy. they are delrin not aluminium but I really like them.

Has anyone tried the Racer version? The cost seems to be 35% lower, though it is limited to 1 pistol (of which i only have 1). I currently have a hogue powerspeed 500 that I picked up used for a really low price, its adequate but I bag my pistol after each stage.

  7. With the eyes starting to go south, I first tried a fiber-optic front sight for last year, keeping me in production. It was better, but still started to get frustrated. I then put an RMR in a sss-dovetail mount on my M&P 9-Pro for this past season and it is worlds better for me. It bumped me to Open, my scores stayed fairly consistent even for scoring minor, and I am enjoying the sport more.

I felt the dot was mounted too high, as many times I had trouble finding it. I ran it this way for about 6 months, to get used to it. As its the winter downtime, I had sent my slide out and had it carved out for the RMR. A little to cold for a match now, but indoors practicing the dot is much quicker for me to pick up, now that it is in my line of sight with the slide top.

I still need practice, but now I see the option to have a bit taller front sight and have a co-witness setup. My thinking is it will give me a point of reference that may help me pick up the dot faster.

My question is if this is a good idea? In the short term it would help me, however lookin further will this eventually slow me down?

  8. I use blue locktite, mostly because I do remove my comp when I use the same m&p9 for idpa. The blue holds up fine for about 2 matches (~400 rounds) then just starts to be loose. I am firing factory 9mm rounds, I know the comp is undergassed and perhaps this is why for me the blue works fine.

I have not tried the teflon tape, is that the standard plumbing teflon or something else?

  9. msg73, I decided to mod my m&p for open in part due to the nj mag restrictions. I would have had to pin those great normal capacity open gun mags, I just could not bring myself to do it. I went with the Carver comp & KKM barrel, and have just had my slide cut to mount the RMR. I have the 9-Pro though, as I also use it for steel and idpa.
