I saw the video release - looks to me to be a new optic with absolutely nothing new or innovative about it.  Seems to be like many others on the market.  Doesn't have the circle, something I liked.  I would assume durability would be really good so that could be a thing.  Seems unimpressive.  I didn't catch a price, probably pretty pricey.

    MSRP was $390ish.

Is the Sig p210 target legal for uspsa single stack division? It's 9mm and only holds 8+1 but I saw they started making +2 extensions. Just curious because it's a beautiful gun and I want one.

Would you mind sharing who's making the +2 extensions?  I'm familiar with the Armory Craft +1's but not any +2's.  Thanks!

  3. If you do leave the firearms behind temporarily, and you have plans to travel back to South Africa, have you considered a bank safety deposit box?

It sounds like selling them might be a permanent solution to a temporary problem... even though they can be replaced personally that would be my last choice. After shooting 10k rounds through my Glock it's no longer just tupperware, it's my tupperware.

  4. I've been doing a LOT of factory 9mm 1911 shooting lately (probably 2000 rounds last 2 weeks). Lots of load tuning, bench shooting at 25/50 yards, Ransom rest, etc. I have the following 9mm's I've been playing with.

-Springfield Loaded Target (slightly older one)

    -STI Trojan 6.0

    -STI TargetMaster

    -Kimber Target II

-Kimber USA Shooting Team Match II

    -Les Baer Monolith

(plus some Glocks with fitted barrels, an M&P Performance Center CORE, and a full-size Sig P320, that I can think of)

Additionally, I have handled the RO pretty extensively, though not this week. Unless STI has changed something real recently, they will outshoot the Springers any day of the week and twice on sunday. The Springers are nice entry pistols and no doubt a great value and foundation from which to build, but the bench accuracy (and general reliability) of the STI single-stacks has made me a believer. They will shoot with the Baers with the right load. The Springers best 25yd groups were around 1.5-2" and averaging closer to 3". That's pretty decent for most people, although I consider it very average. To put in perspective, a semi-fit Bar-Sto in a G19 was having no issues doing 1.75" at 25. The STI's on the other hand are doing sub-1" at 25, and both of them have put 5 or 6 shot groups into 1.2" at 50, which is insane. Today with the 6.0 Trojan and some OAL load tweaking yielded a 5-shot group at 25 of .6", with the first shot as a "flyer" and the other 4 going into a quarter inch (center to center). That was backed up with a 1.2" 5-shot 50 yard group. A poorly fitted pistol won't do this, it simply can't.

As far as the Baer, it shoots like a Baer. The Kimbers seemed to have an edge on the RO for raw accuracy, but had a real short chambers which is a pain in the ass for load tuning.

Any thoughts on the STI Trojan 6 vs. the STI TargetMaster?

  5. E-mail from OMB that they are dropping most Glock parts to make room for S&W - Sig.

Special is G-18 mags for $29.99 others at $18.99 free shipping over $74.99

Probably worth noting they are out of G17, G19, and G26 mags... also as a closeout they don't qualify for free shipping until you hit the $75 mark.

    As of this morning they have G18, 20, 21, 22, 27, 30, 32, 33, 36, and 39 mags left.

  6. Do you suppose a "Rock Tumbler/Polisher" would work ?....http://www.google.com/products?q=rock+poli...le&resnum=4....and I didn't know that Thumlers Tumblers made them also...

I have the dual-drum Chicago electric rock tumbler mentioned in the AR15 thread and it works pretty well. The drums have a relatively small capacity and take a bit of time to secure closed after loading, but it's a inexpensive way to get started with water tumbling ($35 on sale for the dual-drum unit).

I usually run it for 30 minutes for basic cleaning. The brass comes out clean and relatively shiny but not unltrasonic clean. The primer and primer cup do take a while to dry... I let them sit on a dry towel for a few days minimum before loading.

  7. Anyone use the big RCBS separator? How is the quality? How big is it?I have the small Dillon and it is just way too small. I usually have to fish brass out of the pan after dumping. I use the Dillon 750 tumbler and was wondering if the RCBS is big enough to pour into. I really like the big Dillon but space is limited so I thought I might do some research first. Thanks.

I realize the OP is over a month old but since the replies were lacking I figured I'd throw in my two cents. :)

I had the RCBS and got rid of it in favor of the large Dillon. IMO it's not bad for a $35 piece of kit but it's missing a lot of the little things the large Dillon has such as the pins that lock it in horizontal (for no overspill loading) and the spring loaded latches to hold the two halves together. The RCBS is all all molded plastic with no metal, just two halves of the screen box that snap together and fit in the clamshell cover.

My advice would be to go for the large Dillon, especially if you are used to the smaller Dillon. Overall the RCBS isn't bad... but doesn't have quality feel and easy of use features you get on the Dillon.
