Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. That's exactly what is happening: the fired case rim hits the sharp sholder on the bullet of the next round in the magazine. Some times this action stops the rearward motion and the fired case remains in the chamber. The slide travels just far enough to the rear to reset the trigger. Sometimes the fired round is extracted from the chamber but not ejected resulting with a jam. I wont waste any more time working on SWC loads for my G30 sf. Thanks everybody for helping me with this problem. This is a great forum and I'm glad to be a member!
  2. Thanks. I get the same impression. I understand the not feeding part. I'm a bit confused about the extraction and ejection problem. I have a 1911 that I thing will digest SWCs.
  3. I have a new gen 3 g30 sf that I have been feeding Rainier 200gr PHPs. Using Winchester brass, WLP primers, 5.0 gr Titegroup, COAL = 1.165", crimp dia = .473". These loads run through my gun just as smoothly as WWB 230gr FMJ factory loads. I bought some Hornady 200gr C/T SWC bullets and loaded them in the same Winchester brass which has now been reloaded 6 times. Based on data in my 9th edition Hornady manual I loaded 10 rounds with 5.0gr Titegroup, WLP, COAL= 1.245", crimp = .473. These rounds fired normally in terms of recoil, primer flatening, and accuracy but they didn't feed. Bullet was getting jammed on barrel feed ramp. Last night I loaded 4 batches of 5 rounds each to different OALs: 1.245", 1.253", 1.267", 1.274". I tested these loads this morning and experienced the following results. 1.245" feed problem. 1.253" feed and extraction/ejection problems. 1.267 and 1.274 both had extraction/ejection promlems. The cases did not eject and it took a great deal of force to rack the slide. After this mornings test I fired some of the Rainier 200 gr PHP loads and they operated normally like the 230 gr WWB factory loads. I would like to know how to get my g30sf to eat SWC loads. Thanks for your help.
