  1. Have you shot them for groups yet?

I'd be curious to see what type of 100 yard groups people are averaging.

I have, but all my AR's have Aimpoint PRO, or T-1 Reddot sights. They seem to shoot 1.62-1.75" @ 100yrds with a 2 MOA red dot.

  2. Pulled the trigger on these as well. For .0565 cents a piece I figured it was worth a shot!

I have been pleased with the Wolf 55gr FMJ so far. I picked up 1k end of last year to try them out. I was pleased with performace for what I will use them for (training classes, local 3Gun).

FedEx says my latest order of 8k will be here tomorrow.

  3. I had the same thing with 147 up to 150. It was on a sample pack. I am working on the 135 right now. I ran a load today 135s 3.8 gr WFS,1.130 aol CZ spo1, 129PF I may bump it up a little It was 50 and cloudy in pa.

I would like to hear your opinion on the 135gr also. I currently load 135gr Bayou, but these seem a little cheaper with the discount! Also I have always loaded RN in the past. Thanks!

  4. I am in my mid 30s, and understand your pain OP. I played baseball (catcher,1st B), & football (FB, LB) as a kid, and through HS. After I graduated I started playing adult softball 3-4 day per week until my son was a year old. Needless to say, my body took a beating over the years. I can feel it after a big match, or a long day at the bench.

To releive some pain while loading I made sure my press was at the right height, I try to use my body weight, and lean in to the handle when seating primers instead of using my arm to push. I normally stand to load. I usually limit my loading sessions to 600 rounds per session max. I have done 1k per session, but my wife usually finds me something to do! :)

  5. I have 2 tool heads for my .223 loads. One for my resizing die, and the other for loading. I don't shoot a lot during deer season, so I spend my evenings Sun-Thurs prepping .223/.556 brass. I have numerous different head stamps with most being FC, or LC brass I get from a LE friend by the 5gal bucket full. I always tumble, separate head stamps, & visually inspect for major defects first. Once I have gone through about 10gal, I start resizing, trimming, Swage if needed, and tumble again to remove sizing lube. Then they are stored in Sterlite plastic shoe boxes labeled with cal/head stamp/ Ready to Load. I have about 30k prepped, and ready to load right now. When I load, I seat a primer, charge the case, seat the bullet, and apply a very, very light crimp with the Lee FCD. I have tried loading with, and without a crimp, and haven't noticed any difference in accuracy out of my ARs so I crimp since I have the die.

  6. I will second what Biggun Barry said. The Tri Way is a great trimmer, so is the Dead On, and Trim It. I have a Tri Way for 300wm, and a Trim it for .223, and 7mm. To be honest I like to debur, and chamfer separate from trimming. I'm not that all crazy about the chamfer angle of the Giraud compared to the VLD angle. I debur/chamfer on my Lyman case prep center.

I'm leaning toward the Giraud Tri Way, because it has a cover to retain the chips and does trim/chamfer/debur in one step. What do you not like about the Giraud chamfer angle? Is the angle suitable for a casual shooter/reloader? (NOT planning on any long range accuracy type shooting).

It can be adjusted, but it's more of s defined angle than you get with a chamfer tool, or the VLD chamfer bit for the prep stations. Some like it, and others don't. I really don't need much Chamfer with boat tails.

The Trim It has worked great for me so far. I also really like the Dead On because it has 2 set screws holding adjustments instead of one like the Trim It. That said I have never had issue so far with my Trim It. Any of the three are great, and you can't go wrong!

  8. I have out grown my garage space, and my wife wants the garage back. I have been working on my new reloading shop for the last month now. I still have to terminate my perminate power to the house, and build my last 16ft bench down the left side. The Left bench will be for my Dillon presses, and the back wall will be for my single stage presses. My right bench will house my drill press, case prep station, and gun care area. I will have 12" deep shelving above the left bench, and wall cabinets above the right bench. I will have a 36"W x 72"H x 24"D storage shelve at the end of my right bench. The cut out on the back wall is for my A/C unit.
