Did you use a dawson rear?
When you order sights from dawson you get to do some height measuring. They sell differrent front sights to account for different points of impact. The key is to measure your old sights while they are on the gun then take the difference between the two and find a dawson set that closly matches the difference.
Clear as mud??

Had the same issue with the factory dual captured recoil spring. Was hoping the lighter spring on the Jaeger rod would help, but ejection seems to just as inconsistent with either RSA. Any ideas for perhaps tweaking the ejector geometry or changing extractor tension ?
The dual capture spring was bad for the 9mm in gen 4 but fixed the issues that LE had with the G22 when running a light.

yup, carbon crud in the extractor and plunger, brass slivers on the firing pin bore spot face. Normal for Glocks.
And all cops have to clean their weapons after qualifications. The department armorer won't let his kids back out on the street with a dirty gun.
I only clean my upper once a year, as long as Glocks have the right amount of lube in the right locations, they pretty much run forever.
Almost ready to clean......
yes but depending on the state and agency. We qual out guys once a year and for many that is the only time they clean it.

Also Todd McGrede At Marksmans in Mansfield. Primarily a great riflesmith, but I have had him do dozens of other jobs, actions etc...drilling and tapping oughta be a snap.
Yep, Todd is a good dude and really knows what he is doing.

Comp shooting will not teach good tacticls as to movement and so on but there are some good things that mil and LE can take away such as good shooting fundimentals, how to speed up reloads, transitioning from target to target. as a cop I live by the rule of not doing things that are going to get me hurt and some of the rules in matches are not geared for that. That said, matches still force all shooter to preform under stress.
Now from my side, when I shoot matches I do not score as high as the guys that strictly shoot comp. Its because when I shoot a match I use the skill set that I would use everyday. Thus I get dinged for certain proceedurals and generally slower in time.

There are a lot of cross over in tacticas however some not. Specific things like "tactical sequence" and other match rules can be a big no no in the real world. Also there are some things that are done in comp to save time that are not done on the street. That all said, There are things that the tier 1 military guys and LE learn from comp shooters such as speed, draw time, target trans, and so on. Its all knowing what tactics are applicable for comp vs street.
Ton of great instructors in the US. What state are you in. I train / teach all over and know a lot of great instructors. I recommend a good tuned up instructor that teaches real world tactics, not sand box, tactics from war. Shooting is shooting, correct but there is a lot more that is taught in a good class that is going to be geared at fighting in a urban US environment.

Put the factory spring back in and see if she runs right.

I would get some vise sleeves too. Just mount to something very stable. I too have vises mounted on corners of work benches to allow bulky items.
-
Sounds like maybe rhe mr sping isnt giving you enough resistance
-
With regards to my previous post, I made it to my armorer and my trigger measured 5.3 lbs on the digital gauge.
Was it smooth or did it have a wall that you hit?

Whatja shootin'? Reloading, yet?
Many Glocks of all flavors and an STI Edge. I gave up reloading about 10 years ago. Just not enough time

Good to know.

Hey guys,
Ive been a member here for about 4 years but never really posted. Just used it as a resource for matches and so on.
Good to meet yall.

Ok, so on some competition race Glocks I have seen guys remove the rear sight and install a charging handle in the rear sight dove tail. I want one. But I have no idea what it is called or who makes it. And....GO!

The sleeve slips over the top of the mag, then push the base pad in from the bottom. First time I got one it wasn't clear to me either...
I am running these along with extended spring for my duty gun. very reliable
-
The problem is fixed, the gun was oversprung.
What weight spring did you go to?
-
I carry a 17 as a duty gun but shoot a 34 in matches. I like the longer sight radius.
-
Use a single captured or non captured recoil spring. The duals in the gen 4 9mm are an on going pain. oh and run a reduced spring weight
-
Mcnally Trigger bar, OEM minus connector and 25 cent polishing. Dont mess around with trying to get too crazy with plunger spring and striker spring. This set up is pretty good.
To complete your second statement I will say Unless you know what you are doing..
Totally agree. Ive got a steel gun that has it all but II was referring to the op, which seemed to have limited experience,

Comped guns need comp'd ammo, ie, its gotta be hot, real hot. Off the shelf 9mm, espeically 115 gr, is not going to get you there. You were just lucky it was Federal, because that's the softest primer on the market, and probably the only one a 2lb firing pin spring could run. Some of the very expensive self defense 9mm in 124/147 loads, basically +P+ stuff will run, but it's super expensive. 320$ per thousand for major 9mm is expensive, and you better sure chrono it out of your gun. Plus keep in mind if you don't make major in Open, you will get hammered shooting minor.
There is much, much more going on in a USPSA match than just a magic gun. In fact the game is 95% mental, and 5% shooting. If I were you, I'd take put the OEM barrel back in, maybe a 15lb recoil spring, put the 5lb OEM firing pin spring back, hope the pyramid trigger is adjusted correctly, have seen plenty of aftermarket triggers quit running or go auto (DQ) and get to you nearest USPSA match. In fact, you are probably even better off to put the whole thing back to stock, with some nice sights, and run Production division for 20-30 matches before changing anything.
Comped guns do take a bit of tuning to run. Your going to have more fun when you do start loading.

Your good to go!
-
Push the plunger down and the extractor will come out. Prob just realy dirty ( POLICE TRADE-IN) Only about 2% of cops know how to clean guns. lol
-
benny does great work but a buddy recently had issues with the incorrect size brl link being installed after fitting a 1911.
-
The Gen 4 dual captured recoil spring system is not all that. I would change it even if thats not your problem. That said, it could be the recoil spring, ammo, mags and so on.
