[SVI Vs Wilson/ Combat VS Les Baer VS Night Hawk 1911 Pistol]

I am also in the market for a 1911. I had a cheap para GI that was ok, but I shoot with a friend who is a 1911 guy. After trying his les baer premier 2, les baer tactical, Wilson(not sure model) and even his sig scorpion; I realized how bad a the para GI was and sold it. I also am getting into USPSA(shot a few matches with stock duty glock 19 and 22) and want to try single stack. A lot of guys are running STI's , but they didn't seem as good as the baer's or Wilson's I have shot. So, I have been looking at most of the brands mentioned as well as Dan Wesson Valor and springfield TRP. Have heard the springfield professional is good too, but never even looked at one let alone shot it. I was leaning towards the baer, the DW valor or the TRP, but any input would be helpful. I have been shooting for 30 years(18 with handguns), but most of my experience is with sigs and glock. Definitely beginning to appreciate the 1911 that I have overlooked for too long.

I have a Sig 1911 which shoots and feeds everything and it's accurate. I also am lucky enough to have a Dan Wesson Marksman which is exceptional, the fit, the finish and reliability plus it's very accurate. Dan Wesson are seriously worth looking at, and bang for buck are very hard to beat. If I could afford an SVI without sacrificing other things I'd buy one but I like having money to also spend on other things.

your COAL will likely be shorter with the Zero bullets due to their profile. I load them at 1.250 and you might want to try 4.6 of WST. PF will not be a problem. The Zero bullets will most likely be much more accurate. I use a lot them because they are local and good people.

Well tried some zero s and they only just chambered and were difficult to extract. I checked my COAL on my Berrys and they are long at 1.273 however have always functioned without any issues. I m figuring with the difference in profile and .451 diameter of the zero s that I need to reduce that COAL to 1.250 -1.255. Power Factor will def not be an issue with that reduction.

Thanks all for the valuable input. I will purchase the zero bullets next week and look forward to seeing how they perform. I only have 1000 berrys left so needed an exit strategy.

Having trouble obtaining more Berrys .45 230 rn at .452 however can obtain Zero bullets .45 230rn at..451. Other than reducing the belling will these be a straight forward replacement ? I use 4.7 WST and make major in both the sig and Dan wesson 1911 with this load. Any help would be appreciated as I reload because I need to not because it excites me.

You will love the Sig. I have a .45 Tacops and it's never missed a beat, eats and feeds everything and is damn accurate. Sigs in my opinion are very underrated as a rule.

.45 is just plain fun to shoot regardless of the extra expense! I shoot both a Sig Tacops and Dan Wesson Marksman and both are extremely accurate. I use Cobra Tripp mags and the only time I have seating issues is when my brain fades. More and more are moving to 9mm 1911 for the reasons already outlined but I'm already set up for .45 and could not justify the expense to change to 9mm. Shoot both and see which you like is all I can offer.

My .45 Dan Wesson Marksman with Larry Davidson Grips amongst other things. IPSC Single Stack Classic.

Take the Dan Wesson hands down. I have never had an STI so cannot comment on that but I have a DW Marksman which will never be sold!

On the note of IPSC Classic Division it appears under the 2015 rules that accessory rails are now permitted, great news for those of us who have accessory rails on our .45s or those who wish to shoot in this division who have a limited choice of hand guns available to purchase.

I previously used 231 with Berrys and changed to WST when 231 was not available. WST is a winner in my opinion and I would not go back to 231 now.

I have a Dan Wesson Marksman, it is very well made and very very accurate. I was going to buy a custom 1911 but after getting this there is now no need.

I too own a Tacops, eats and it feeds everything and is very very accurate. I use a Blackhawk holster and it fits fine with it's blocky slide. The night sights need to be removed and replaced if you buy one.

I had similar problem and had to clean slide every three hundred rds or so due to debris from primer etc.

The reason I had so much debris accumulating however was because my primer chute was jammed shut......which I later fixed.

I use to use W231 and berrys and was using around 5.6 to 5.7 of 231. 4.9 sounds very light. Changed to WST now less powder and cleaner!

Dan Wesson, I bought a Marksman and until I purchased this always wanted a custom 1911, I'm very very happy with the Dan Wesson. It's accurate and very well put together.

Has anybody used the above, I'm currently using Berrys 230 rn .45 plated with WST and have an option to try some of the above. Just wondering if anyone has used the SSL?
