Ok, thanks. I will check out Springer Precision and will most likely go with the plates. I am very pleased with my Vortex products and wouldn’t mind one on here.

You're welcome. Just to give you an idea about how it will look with the plate, these both have the Razor red dots and Red Hill Tactical holsters. Enjoy the new blaster!

Just shot it and beyond pleased. On to search for a duty/range holster.

I don't know about duty, but a great range holster would be Red Hill Tactical. I love mine for range and competition.

Here is some pictures of it all dolled up...36af3b847db6baac37cff4ded4eebbf7.jpg173baa377b66b7f14f225dba5cfe5cc1.jpg302c9eec4923ff4d26f378c212c06166.jpg

Eyeballing it, that looks like its the old cut. If you really want to stick with Delta Point Pro, I have heard filing a bit from the front portion of the cutout will allow clearance to fit it (read up in the 79 page X5 thread). Otherwise, Springer Precision makes optics plates for it, that way you can run whatever you want. I went that route with Vortex Razor red dots on my wifes and my X5.

I saw that today. Not sure how I feel about it, though I'm curious just how much the grip module weighs. Have we seen an MSRP on it yet?

Just picked one up FDE. “Born” date of 4/8/2019. Hopefully this on will accept several different options of red dots. Really like this pistol. Actually my first Sig.

Very cool! I've been pretty happy with Sig through the years. The "Born" date I think has the larger slide cut. You could post up a pic and we should be able to tell, or a quick call to Sig should let you know as well. Either way, congrats on the new gun!

  6. They did announce an update to the X5 at Shot. The only difference I know of is the optic cut on the new ones is larger to accommodate the Romeo 2 and Delta Point Pro. They may have some other small changes but I have not heard anything specific.

Take my advice...….get the tungsten guide rod from Springer Precision and the 14lb recoil spring they recommend. IT makes a huge difference.  Then order up the Grey Guns trigger kit. That will give you about 90% of the full in house trigger job from Bruce or Robert Burke (the 2 guys who do Sig triggers).  At that point, you have gun set up and done right pretty much like Max runs his.  I actually just wrote an article about this for USPSA's magazine. Can't say enough good things about Scott Springe, Bruce Grey and Robert Burke...….now if only I could actually shoot my CO gun like my 1911's...….At this point, they don't sell magic sprinkle dust to help me.

    Best Regards,

Thanks for the advice Roy! Pretty much exactly what my plan is! Just short on funds right now due to injury and lousy health insurance. Can't wait to be back out to matches regularly though.

  8. Thanks to all of you that helped me in my previous threads. My wife shot Steel Challenge with me back on New Years Day and decided she wanted a competition pistol. I was shooting a standard 320, but both of us wanted X5's. It's taken a bit longer to get these finished due to injury and school, but they are Carry Optics ready (mine still has the magwell in the pic but it has been removed since.) Both have Vortex Razor red dots on Springer Precision mounting plates, with Red Hill Tactical holsters, and Springer Precision grip tape. No internal mods for now, but will eventually do trigger kits and different guide rods, etc.

I saw this too. Looks like a really nice big sight. I'll be interested to get my hands on one when it comes out.

Looks like $699 shipped is around the best deal currently. Those probably wont last much longer, I'm told a new version that is compatible with more than just the Romeo1 is supposed to be coming out and they are letting some of the old stock go for a good deal.

But if you're looking for a combo with a Romeo1 you can get the X5 with 3MOA R1 for $770 at the moment - hard deal to beat!

Thats a pretty sweet deal. Thanks!

Oh, it was on an open gun with an SJC mount, not on an X5.  I was just talking about the reticles.

On my X5 I started with the 3moa Romeo1 and switched to the 6moa Romeo1 as soon as I heard about it being available.

Ah, makes sense! I really like the DPP but may just run the Romeo because it’s easy.

You can find new X5s for $650 right now... might as well get an identical backup at that price.

Where are you seeing it for $650? Lowest i'm finding is $690...

I was in the same boat... I couldn't see where anything changed so I just ordered one on Monday.

Guns Midwest had them for $689 plus $14.99 for shipping. I was limited on where I could get it though because I live in NY and am restricted to 10-round mags (which not everywhere sells that model).

BTW... I also picked up a Romeo1 6moa from Optics Planet for $221.09! They price matched a place called BallisticDeals.com. I actually got it cheaper through OP because they didn't charge me shipping.

That is awesome the price you picked it up for. I saw that too and am seriously debating picking up two, one for my wife and one for me. At that price I think it might be worth it not having the larger cut.

I have run a DPPro, a gen1 DP, a Romeo1 3moa, and a Romeo1 6moa.  In the Romeo line the 6moa is a lot more effective for me, especially in bright daylight.

However, the delta reticle is FAR superior for me.  It is huge and easy to acquire, but has that amazing triangle tip for fine aiming.

If there is actually a hope for a larger cut to fit a DPPro, waiting may be worth it.  On the other hand, if that change from Sig is not in the cards, the Romeo1 6moa is still pretty good and is what is on my CO X5 right now.

When you ran the DDP, did you use the adapter plate or did you have the cut out opened to accept it directly?

Max mentioned that his new optic is coming. Sounds like he at least has one for testing. Sounds like a Romeo3 but with the sizing of the RTS2. I wonder if it could fit.

Interesting. I'm kind of torn now if I should still wait when I'm seeing great prices for the X5 out there now... Are you going to Shot Show Alma, or do you have any idea when we will know for sure about changes to the X5? Also, thank you! You are always a great resource for info and help with all things Sig!

I was at the Pro Shop buying an X5 a week ago and I asked the guy there. He basically said "yeah, there are rumors about it but in typical Sig fashion we have no idea when it's coming". It would also leave the rear sight in place so you can co-witness AFAIK.

Interesting... It would make sense if the new Romeo 3 is a bigger footprint that they would cut the slide to fit it.

I called Sig on Friday, as I'm in a similar situation. I was told by the CS Rep that a change to the size of the cutout was NOT one of the changes that will be announced at SHOT Show.

Well, that's too bad. Did they tell you anything about what they are announcing at Shot? Thanks for the info BTW!

  18. I keep hearing rumors that Sig is changing the optic cut to make it larger for accepting the Delta Point Pro, matching the M17. Does anyone have any actual knowledge on this or is it all just hearsay? I know I'm going to pick up an X5 soon for Carry Optics, but if they really are changing it I would much prefer to wait so I won't have to alter anything for the DDP.  Thanks!

  19. Mwin - I bought it at a gun show, non-local store. Havent seen them at any of the stores this year though.

It is more me wanting to switch to that foregrip on this firearm than switching because there was a issue at last match, YHM makes great equipment and I will be keeping this around to put on a different AR. I did email YHM about getting the missing set screws for the foregrip.

    Thanks for the help,

    Chris

That makes sense. Just didn't know the full situation but it sounds like you've got it figured out...

  20. Just so I know I'm on the same page with you, the rail didn't just flex, the entire rail spun where the top no longer lined up with the upper correct? I just ask because I have a Yankee Hill and while I've not had mine too long, everyone else I know with them we've never had that issue that I know of. I'm wondering if the barrel nut was torqued correctly or if the anti rotation screws were set properly.

Can you measure the length of the rail and from the gas block to the upper receiver? We should be able to help you figure out which gas system you have if you can get those.

Yes it spun and from the looks the anti rotation screws may not of been installed or it may not of been torqued correctly. (I do not see set screws in the slots they should be in.) It happen to me in a match with I turned it in the heat of action during the 1st stage I shot.

The tube that connects to the gas block looks to be 8.5 inches from upper receiver

    Thank you for the assistance

8.5 is right in between carbine and mid length gas systems, so it sounds like mid length but I can't be sure based on 8.5... Really though, if I were in your shoes I would take the rifle back where I bought it and have them put anti rotation screws in and make sure the barrel nut is torqued to spec. If the shop is worth their salt they should just take care of you since it sounds like maybe they didn't install it correctly to begin with. Then I would try your setup again at the range to give it a fair chance. That's going to be the cheapest for you and you keep your barrel free floated for accuracy. They should be able to tell you for sure which length your gas system is too.
