  1. I had been very lucky. I had been shooting weekly with Chris Tilley and Martin Little. I had progressed from unclassified to B class in Open. In August of 2004 I was headed to Jacksonville to shoot with Danny Bone. It was raining and I didn't feel well. I took the the kids to the movies instead. By the end of the movies I was in pain. Saturday went by and Sunday dragged on. I went the the Doctor Monday. He send me to get a CT scan. They found a perforated colon. I was in surgery 20 minutes later. Three months later the 2nd surgery, over Thanksgiving, has been 3 times worse than the first. I'm connected to a wound vac. I haven't shot a match in 4 months. I'm really sore. I'm hoping to shoot by March!!

  2. Please try IMR before you buy a keg of anything.

7625 if you like it snappy and smooth

4756 if you like it flatter.

    I like 'em both.

    Steve,

Where are you getting your IMR? Can you give me the short version on how burn rates effect the equation?

  3. Like I said.

All is very good when you start with the theory.  I suck and work up from that point.  You can do nothing but get better.  That being said, I think everyone is capable of the high levels of performance.  Its a subconcious thing, you have to want it.  Then be willing to do what it takes.

I am quitting my job, starting a business in the industry for what.  Not to get rich, but to make GM in 2 years.  Lofty goal yes, but I will do it.  Then I won't suck quite so bad.

I'm curious how old are you?

  4. Benny,

You did the trigger job on this gun. I don't know if you remember or not you had just gotten over the Texas Flu? I've had the slide lightened but the comp if factory. Can you compensate for the comp with different powders? I'm planning on trying 115's.

  5. I'm shooting a STI Trubore. I shot yesterday with a Sprinco in the gun. The dot was whippy and slow. I put a standard guide rod in the gun today and the dot tracked faster, but still not as fast on the return as I'd like. I can't change the comp, but I can change almost everything else. I'm shooting Montana Gold 124's, 7.8 gns VVN340. What % change will changing powder, bullet, and recoil spring make? Any suggestions?

  6. I saw a post a while back about cleaning your dies. I'm loading on a 550 that is in my garage. I load about 500 rounds a week. I've loaded maybe 15,000 rounds on my machine. Without taking the dies apart and looking at the powder die, it looks rusted? I don't think it can rust. So the question is how oftn do you take the apart? I see it as a major pain to take them apart and re adjust the machine.

  7. I've been loading about a year on a 550. I'm shooting .40 and .38 super. Lately I've been shooting a lot and switching between .38 super and .40 a lot. I've started thinking about adding a 650 to my bench. Does anyone have both a 550 and a 650. I'd like to hear how that works for you. I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Another machine may be overkill?

  8. I'm loading N320 for .40. I'm out of N320 can I use N350 with simular results? I've got 4 lbs of N350 that I don't really have a use for. I'm loading N340 for .38 super.

I've been loading for about a year. I just don't know all the nuance's of the different powders I've copied Jeff Maass' site and tried a bunch of stuff from there. I'm looking for some opinions on N350 for .40 out of a limited gun.
