Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. here is a good link describing the differences: http://usgi1911.tripod.com/series80/
  2. No, colt recently (about a year ago I think) started making new 1991's with various improvements, such as higher quality extractor, trigger, grips, and overall much better workmanship. The discernable difference is that the older variants had large block lettering on the slide, while the newer ones have smaller lettering and the horse logo. Unfortunately, they have the same model number. So back to my question, does anyone know how to get a newer one just by ordering from a catalogue? Does anyone know the serial number range or cutoff?
  3. I've decided I want to buy a blued 1991A1, however the gun store where I want to purchase it doesn't have one on display or in stock. How can I order one by catalogue from them and make sure I get one of the new rollmark models? Are there any other discernable features of the newer production line, such as price or serial number? Thanks.
  4. ok guys, so I need some advice. I'm a computer dork with small hands and not particularly strong arms, what are a few handguns you suggest I look into? I am getting this mainly for recreational shooting and home defense, not so much for carrying. I think I want a 9 mm for the low recoil and cheap ammo but this is not a nescessity. I like the beretta 92 fs, but I've read elsewhere that it is bulky and possibly not very comfortable. I also like the classic colt 1911 but I'd think it would be bulky as well. I want something that is comfortable to shoot but is not a dinky compact. What are your suggestions?
  5. I think I already have residency, although it's kinda funky. I got a PA drivers license last year so I could buy the rifle without problems with the background check. I live in an apartment, not a dorm, so I have a legal address that is permanant for at least a couple years (I have utility bills and such). Also I have a job so this year I did pay PA state and local taxes. However, on my federal taxes, I listed my MD home as my home address because that is what was linked to my SS number. I had no trouble buying a rifle in PA so I don't know what kind of problem there would be getting a pistol.
  6. Hi, I want to sell my rifle and buy a handgun. I go to school in pennsylvania but I'm from the USSM (united soviet socialist of maryland). What are the laws for buying/owning/carrying a handgun in PA and how to I get a carry permit? And how does transporting it home to maryland work?
  7. Does anyone happen to know the allen wrench size for the trigger/action bolts on a savage 110? I lost the wrench that came with it and for the life of me I can't find the right size. I've bought 3 sets so far where the wrenches were either just slightly too big or slightly too small.
  8. you were right, the screw infront of the trigger guard is loose. unfortunately i don't have an alan wrench that will fit it so I gotta go find one the right size
  9. Hi, I've shot about 60 rounds so far out of my new savage 110, and I just noticed that the entire barrel and action is slightly loose from the stock. It can rock back and forth just a little bit, but enough to notice while carrying/handling the gun. Is this normal? Thanks.
  10. nope, scotia is still there. if it wasn't, I wouldn't buy a gun, because I wouldn't have anywhere to shoot.
  11. Well, I got it! After a driving adventure up to clearfield I went to Bob's and I got a savage 110. It was only $320. I also got a Bushnell 3x9 scope for $100 and mounts and a case and some ammo. So, weather permitting, I'll get to try it out at Scotia tomorrow Thanks for the help
  12. that number is definately not the number for bob's army and navy!!
  13. no, I have not finalized the deal because I took iprod's advice I'll call grices and see what they offer and maybe I'll drive up there. As for scopes, dicks sporting goods sells some at good prices and mounts them and sights them in for free, so would that be a better deal?
  14. Yeah but is that the wood stock? It is more expensive. Also, the cost after tax, shipping, and registration I would guess would be around $500 as well, plus an extra $20 in gas to drive there and back leaves no monitary gain. Where is grices, anyway? Do you have their number? Maybe I will call them and ask them about stuff and decide if it is worth it.
