  1. 17 rd Mecgar AFC with the same base pads that came with them. Only reason I could thnk of wanting anything different would be if the plastic Mecgar base pads cracked. They haven't yet for me.

A little birdie told me there may be some nice aluminum ones available soon.

I run three of the Comp Tac double mag holders.

Where would the aluminum base pads be when available?

I run these aluminum pads on my AFC mags, they work great, just make sure you have the old style retainer place with the center button.

  2. At the Charity Classic my 625 ran 172 in the middle of the day and 168 in the evening just before dark temps had dropped a little using 230 lead plain cast with 3.9 of Clays. Chrono work showed my gun didn't drop velosity at 3.7 but was erratic on the spread so I stayed with 3.9. Takes 4.0 to 4.1 of Clays using a Precision Delta 230 jacketed bullet to make major with a 5 inch 1911 or my 625. OAL at 1.250.

I ordered some of the xtreme bullets to try. Is there a standard OAL that will work out of a revo and a 1911?

  3. Hey guys, just purchased a 625 to use in USPSA and would like some load recommendations for making major with the .45. I currently use Titegroup and Clays in other calibers and would like to be able to use on of those if possible to keep my powder selection small.

    thanks!

  4. probably soft springs then. with the inertia of slamming it in the gun combined with the motion required to remove the base pad, i can see how that would happen.

my rule of thumb with the 19s if you decide to stick with them is to immediately put +10% in them. personally when they come with a gun i like selling them for $35 each and then just buying the $20 16 round mags and adding the rubber pad.

Where do you get the rubber pad?

    Also, has anyone used these?

  5. I switched to a Shadow after shooting an M&P Pro for a year in production. I found that with the heavier CZ and an 11# spring I was allowing the barrel to dip after the first shot and my followup would be lower every time. I switched to a 10# and it took care of the problem pretty well.

  6. Josey, magazines flying apart has been a problem with macgar for the past year. Cliff and Jenny have the same issues. The 19 round and the metal base plate mags do not have this issue. If you are going to be at the match Sunday I'd like to borrow one to see if I can come up with a fix.

I'll be there, it wasn't mine that were doing it though, it was Josh Querins. However, Cliff was able to duplicate it with my 17rd. Mec-Gars although I couldn't. I'll be happy to let you take one of those and see what you think.

  7. I was shooting with a friend last week and multiple times while making a reload the base pad would slide off of the front of his magazine while he was seating it in the gun. He was using factory 19rd. magazines, I was using 17rd. Mec-Gar mags and wasn't having any issues. Is this a common problem with the 19 rounders?

  8. I see Cliff is starting to rub off on you eh? :-P

Hah Danny is, I'm actually wanting one to go shoot that charity match in Memphis.

Are you trying to figure out which suffix means that it was built in Australia, and has a longer barrel??? :)

Hah, if there was an Australian version I would have no problem waiting 6 months on it, I know, I've seen me do it.

  9. possible to do.

have the slide milled for the Novak rear and then install the 1911 warren tactical rear sight.

I'm new to the CZ platform but the rear sight seems to be a good bit higher than the Warren. I wonder if it is possible to run a sight with that low of a profile on the Shadow?

  10. I love the small size and scalloped edges of the warren tactical sight on my M&P Pro and was wondering if anyone makes that style for the CZ. I purchased a Shadow from Matt Mink and it has the "tactical" rear right with the beveled edges but its still to large for my liking. If there aren't any warren style available is it possible to get a CZ sight cut to those specs?

    thanks!

  11. Looks like I may have to go with a North Mountain, spoke with Speed-e-Rack today and was told that they no longer make one for the 38 super due to variances in the moonclips. I told them that I would be using Hearthcos exclusively and so she is going to check and see if I can get one made.

  12. JW, I did not believe that you could type cheap and Hearthco in the same sentence....There are several less expensive moonclips out there. But somewhat like the sign on the speedshop wall " How fast do you want to go?" So far Hearthco moonclips are the most consistant moon clip out there. I can reload faster and smoother with them than I can with most others. As for brass as there are spec's on the extractor groove all the brass is good and you do not lose any. The groove on the 38 357 are not spec'd out so they are some varieances to them but not the auto brass, and W W is the cheaper so far. I use whatever I have.

decide on brass first....recommend starline....then tell David (Hearthco) what you are using and he will match it up. If you don't want to screw around, this is the way to go

Is there a website or contact information for Hearthco?

  13. Hey guys, I shot an ICORE match yesterday with a borrowed 625 and was hooked, now I know why they call us auto shooters in USPSA bottom feeders ;) I went to the LGS today and they happened to have a new 627 in 38 super behind the glass, it promptly made its way to my truck.

I have heard that I need to use HearthCo moon clips, where is the cheapest place to purchase these? Also what brass should do you recommend that I use with the moonclips? I plan on getting a speed-e-rack holder. Lastly, what loader/unloader do you guys recommend for the clips?

    thanks!

  14. CZ should sponsor Magnolia RPC. I think between Matt, Cliff and me we sold about 5 more shadows this weekend. I think your going to be really happy with Matt's work.

I think I will too, went with the small safeties like yours. The grip feels a little too small for me causing me to choke up on the trigger after the first double action shot, gonna need some thicker grip panels I think.

Lots of folks drinking the CZ Kool-Aid at Magnolia. I'm sure JoseyWalesX will like it.

LOL, I am already taking flak from the switch
