Shielded safeties are another option as well. Phoenix trinity and limcat make really nice options for those as well

The cz seems like a decent affordable option. Are they a gas gun? I am doing an affordable shotgun right now and decided to work off of the Franchi Affinity. Nicer fit and finish then a stoeger for real similar money.

Ugh... all this limcat sight block chatter has me contemplating selling some organs! Both guns look great! Any reason you didn't get the limcat grip Posvar? I recall you stating you had it on an open gun

I'm running a double fluted 18" barrel and I'll tell you what, it is light and fast for a 18" gun. I've found that the rifle length gas really smooths out the recoil impulse. With that said, I would like to build a short rifle with a 13.7 or 14.5 for the one club I shoot at. There is nothing but bays, I think the farthest is something like 125? But I have shot my 18 and dont really feel at any disadvantage running it, just want to try something new.

I think Hayes Custom is working on a rock island open gun, slide ride and ported barrel.

A local friend/competitor has a wilson cqb in 45 that shot IDPA extensively and trained like a mad man and it has held up to the 100k mark with minimal parts breakage. I believe it was an extractor that broke but not positive. Wilson puts out an awesome product, as long as their options meet what you want.

Nice video and glad to see you like the MBX. I've been looking around at PCC's and this is in the running for sure!

I'm currently using invictus 2point8 caddies, and have been very happy! I'm considering getting the deturk vest for some of the longer stages of fire that I have been seeing

Good deal! I got mine for right about that price too! I'm hoping to have my gun fully race ready for less then a stock m2.

Are you buying the Franchi Affinity 3 or 3.5 models?
Would a receiver that takes 3.5” shells be easier to enlarge and load?
I have a 3" gun. Sometimes the 3.5" guns are spring stiffer and require stiffer loads.

That's going to look killer! Can't wait to see it done

I like the idea of an aluminum trigger guard, small funnel and there is a certain bling factor that I like. I also don't care for the funny hump in the plastic factory part. Certainly not a necessity, more of an accessory.

Carlson makes an affordable choke, briley is an excellent choke tube, the pure gold are excellent as well, BUT this time around I am going with the Müller chokes. They have an excellent history in sporting clays, and I will only be picking up 2. Hoser and far will cover everything that we see 99.9% of the time.

Glad to hear you talked with MOA as well! I'm in the same planning stage but am planning on the A&S trigger guard as well for mods. kilyung, could you post up your c rums port? Would love to see it

The loading port work done on Keith Garcias breda from TTI looked great, but the port from RCI looks great too! I am currently in the process of having MOA do the port work for my franchi and I think it will be as fast and easy to load as my Accurate Iron M2 was at a fraction of the price. I'm hoping to be under $1200 with the A&S trigger guard on my franchi which I bought "used" for $525. It was from a guy who won it and never shot it.

That looks like a heck of a setup especially for $40! Looks like I'll be ordering one of those!
-
That's awesome! Your making me really want to pick one up now!

Looks good Trace! You going with the ck grip or cheely's new grip for the limited gun? Matt's grip looks very evo/svi with the contouring and shaping.

The slide was cut by EGW for Para as a "upgrade" package. You can still purchase them off of ebay, but the guy wants a lot. Yes I'm doing most of the work. The Rock Island was just dropped off to Limited10 to do a custom barrel, tri-top and lightening cuts on the slide.
Make sure you post that up once done! I've been super curious about their cone barrels!

I bought it off armslist, nib a guy won it at a friend's of the NRA banquet. Before that I was about to pick one up at that $680-$700 range. I did pick up a 28" gun simply because of the price I paid. My m2 with a 26" tube and extended choke was still shorter then the tube I had on so the 2" of barrel weighs practically nothing and will not hinder me.
-
I sent MOA an email too and haven't heard back, I'm going to give them a call this week or message Tom on Facebook. I'm hoping the A&S trigger guard goes for sale here shortly so I can pick one of those up too. I'm going to stipple the stock myself but let Tom do the portwork and other misc things to make it ready.

I've had a full race m2 done by Accurate Iron and it was an absolutely fantastic gun! I ended up selling it and recently purchased a franchi affinity simply due to the money. I picked up a brand new affinity for 525 and figure I'll be in another 500-600 and I will have a shotgun that is 90% of what my m2 was for 50% of the cost.

To shoot single stack, it will do just fine as long as you can get along with the sights as they are more limited in what you can use. I think dawson makes some but if not there are other people who make them, just more limited. I prefer an internal extractor for the looks mostly to be honest. Depending on your budget you can get a rock island and shoot the hell out of it, or spend dan wesson money and shoot the heck out of it, or go full custom. I have found that the range officer line is a very nice pistol for the money, but the dan Wesson's tend to be a step up in every way. Enjoy whichever gun you choose, and make sure to update the post!
