  1. This is why i switched to petroleum based, pic. The first tank corroded on the inside after about 5-6 years. I got my new tank from Toolking, cost was $51 bucks. SLIP doesn't sell them anymore, I am wondering if it was because they didn't play well with their water based solvents.

I am using Graymills Agitene solvent from Graingers (2RE49). Works much faster and I don't have to be so careful when drying the parts since there is no water.

  2. I remember sitting around for hours cleaning guns with my dad when I was young. It was the old "news paper and Hoppes #9." Seems like it took forever to do 2-3 guns this way. Once I got shooting and found myself spending more time cleaning guns I got serious about how to go about it.

My first breakthrough was with the SLIP2000 parts washer tub and their 725 water based solvent, that was in 2006. I am still in the same tub (replaced once), but i am now using a petroleum based solvent. I love this thing and the entire system. The only other significant component is a small air compressor to dry the parts.

  3. I just had a steel plate rack built for practice. Typically I use 5 IPSC target stands, 5 steel plates (22"x10"), and now I am going to incorporate the plate rack. It has 5 plates on it. I like to shoot steel so I don't have to tape so much.

  4. I am testing some loads in this rifle. I hate to shoot it with the muzzle break, because it is exceptionally loud. I typically wear plugs and muffs. However, I forgot how much it helped with the recoil. Makes a huge difference.

  5. More accurate with or without a compensator on your rifle? If it helps I am shooting a 264 Winchester magnum that has a threaded compensator. I am curious if anyone has any previous experience.

  6. Well, tomorrow is a new match and a new powder. I also am picking up a case of MG 124 CMJs. Wish me luck. I have to shoot a couple of rounds before the match to ensure I am zeroed, since I had the front screw on the C-More fall out on Thursday.

  7. I have a case of those coming to me tomorrow. I should be getting the CMJ 124s. I have been shooting Ranier & Extreme (local?). However, one of the guys at the USPSA match must be a MG dealer. He orders monthly, so it looks like I have a bullet guy, now.
