  1. Torque. If the case wall is sealed to the chamber and has not yet rebounded, then the bolt has a resistive torque applied to it as it unlocks. If you have a gun that moves off center in recoil, if you can, shut off the gas and shoot it. Chances are that the off center movement will be gone, or much less. The better way to tune the rifle is to use a faster powder so that the pressure in the chamber is lower at unlocking.

If you have a carbine gas system, it is almost impossible to get there. With a mid-length you can get there. With intermediate and rifle length, pretty easy. Once I figured this out, I stopped clocking my comps and tuned the system appropriately.

    Thank you!

  2. If you tune it correct with rifle length gas, no need to clock it. That is mostly countering torque from unlocking with the pressure still high.

Please explain more, because that sounded a little Greek.

I got the part. If I have rifle length and adjustable gas block and tune it just right I don't need to time it, correct?

    Other part I'm lost.

    Thank you very much

  3. Hey some times a long day of shooting gets to us but if your ROing then you need to check the range before you give the load command. Ive never been to the RO class and I'm not sure if that is his duty, but it should be. This video should be left up for training purposes. We could tell a story of, "this one time..." But this video makes it more of a point to people how important it is to check. Thank you for posting sarge.

  4. welcome, im in houston too. not too sure how many matches are up in the woodlands but im a part of PSC and they put on a good monthly match. Impact zone does too but both of those are on the other side of town.

I my self have to travel across town to go to almost any match myself.

Space city challenge is still up and open. Usually they shoot it at PSC but thiss year uts going to be some other place. still should be fun. This was my first starting match. you must sign up for uspsa to shoot since it is a level 2 match. but they have a couple days of shooting and you can sign up to shoot sundaay and come pout friday or saturday and watch and ask questions. Its a great way to learn. Have fun and pm me if you have any questions.

  5. i contacted silencer co and they said the wrap will not damage the can. I asked them for recommendations and they said they dont have any, but I should go for high quality. So here I am again, anyone out here with some experience and know any brand that I can use for longer strings of fire without catching on fire. Both Tab and Ironworks say to not use on an AR platform due to it getting too hot.

  6. It takes awhile for your mind to get used to the idea and allow you to shoot well like this. I'd avoid focussing on the target though. If you feel it's necessary, only do it for a short while. Shooting both eyes open shouldn't cause you to lose one of the fundementals of accurate shooting, and if you do it too long will ingrain bad habits. The main skill that you need to develop when shooting both eyes open is to decouple accomodation from convergence. Training techniques and exercises that don't do this aren't going to help you at all, and can actually hold you back in the long run.

You don't need a gun in your hand to train on and learn this technique, and honestly I think putting one in your hand before you've learned to do this can be counter productive. It's not what's in your hands that matters here, it's whats going on in your head.

Do the thumb exercise I posted above, and don't use a shooting target as your "target" in the background. Use a lamp or a plant or a lightswitch or something. Using a shooting target will cause your subconscious to go into "shooting" mode, and it will fight you trying to do anything other than what you've done in the past. You want your visual landscape to be something new and unrelated to shooting. Work on shifting your focus up and down the focal continuum between your thumb and the [whatever non target thing your using in the background]. Once you become proficient at that, then do it with a proper shooting target. Let your subconcious know that the technique you've just learned will also be used when looking at targets. Then replace your thumb with your front sight. Don't be surprised if you find it more difficult to do with a gun and target that your thumb and a lampshade. This is your subconscious mind arguing with you about what you should be seeing when shooting a target. Just keep at it, you'll eventually win your subconscious over to your side :)

Again, what you're striving for it to perceive a single fuzzy target in the background, and a crisply in focus partially transparent front sight. You'll actually be seeing two sets of sights, but with practice your mind will drop the unused one from your consciousness, and you won't even notice it's there.

Being able to shift which eye is preferred by the mind on demand isn't necessary for shooting both eyes open, but is very cool, and will give you further mastery of your binocular vision, and how the mind stiches what your eyes are seeing into a single perceived image. Learning to do this will definately improve your visual skills when shooting.

Not sure if i agree with this. I dont have too much experience in the open field but i do with an AR with an aimpoint mounted. I was always looking for a sharp target and the dot would be over it. if it was a fuzzy target then there woould be no way to shoot at targets 300 yards away. Correct me if im wrong, but i would have my focus on the target and the dot will come. If you are focusing on your sight you will always have two sights because you are not looking past it.

  7. I am new to the suppressor world but have looked at Ironworks and Tab. Both companies do not recommend using their suppressor wraps for long strings of 5.56 fire.

Im hoping someone has a working wrap that will work for up to full auto. I know we had some in the army but im not sure what company made them.

    Any suggestions would be great.

If it matters, The suppressor I am waiting on is the SilencerCo Saker 7.62

    Thank you.
