    P-09?

Have the P07 and put the CGW full treatment and have to say very nice, worth every penny and now want a P09 to do the same to.

I'm in the same boat. I just picked up a barely used B model P-07 today for $390 and I'm thinking of sending it to CGW once my P-09 gets back from them. This thing still had packing grease/oil in the slide serrations.

Dude had heart surgery a month or so ago and has to pay his $8000+ Obamacare deductible, so he's selling some stuff.

    P-09?

Its uses different mags than the CZ75 platform?

Yep. They use their own mags.

I have a P-09 at Cajun Gun Works right now getting trigger work and sights done. Hopefully, it will be back sometime soon.

  1. It has a complete 40 headstamp. I'm not worried about it, just thought it was odd/cool. I've used no telling how many rounds of Starline brass (and others) and never came across an XL version of anything.

  2. A normal 40 case and a 40 "Super Duper Magnum" as a friend called it. I was tweaking my new 650 when I ran out of cases and found the case on the right stuck in the feed tube. Both cases are brand new Starline. The SDM case is about .4" longer than the left one. I thought it was a 41 mag when I first saw it. The case is headstamped as a 40.

I measured it again and it comes out to 1.284".

Starline says their 10mm Mag is between 1.242" - 1.248".

    Their 40 is 0.842" - 0.847".

    Their 10mm runs 0.984" - 0.991".

  3. If the guy thinks its okay work, go ahead and name him. If you're not going to help out your fellow shooters by warning them away from this guy, then keep it to yourself and resolve it on your own.

If you feel that bad about it, go get yourself a lawyer.

So far, all you've done is complained and given every gunsmith in Arkansas a bad name.

Anyone who really wants to know is free to pm Larry, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Hell, pm me and I'll tell you who it is. Larry and I have talked about this situation since the very beginning.

  4. cardboardkiller,

"...without compromising the reliability of the firearm..."

"I'm going to fire 4 or 5 hundred rounds through it before I carry it. Shoot, reload, shoot. Again I don't understand where you are coming from with "proving process."

I was simply asking what your line of testing was that would satisfy your comfort level and prove to you that reliability and accuracy have not been compromised.

Namely, were you going to do some timed draws from the holster, timed fire, bench rest accuracy, split times. stronghand, weakhand, testing different types of ammo....

After all, you do have a hardchromed finish, a different grip, different sights moonclips. different holster, and so on.

My questions were not a slight on you, your qualifications, or gunsmith. There were purely inqusitive in nature that's all.

That's where the misunderstanding is, I get it.

I never fired this gun before the conversion, I bought it solely for this project.

I have 8 other revolvers (K, L and N frame in 38/357, 41 Mag, 44 Special, 44 Mag and 45 ACP) that I regularly carry and are similar in various aspects (grip, weight, size, etc.) and I will be using one of the two holsters that I use for all my other carry revolvers. Both holsters are from the same maker, the same style and made at the same time, the only difference in the size frame they are for.

I learned a long time ago to keep my carry gear as similar as I can, it's cheaper and there's very little learning curve.

Here's a pic of my other carry revolvers.

  5. Nice looking piece,

How comfortable are you with having an action job performed on a carry gun?

Don't get this wrong I fully agree that S&W actions from the factory can definitely stand to be smoothed out.

Are going to function fire that gun a few 100 times before carrying.

What will be your proving process?

    I am just curious.

    Renny

I'm competely comfortable with carrying a revolver that has an action job. If it makes me a better shot and I am able to more efficiently and safely defend myself should the need arise without compromising the reliability of the firearm, why not? I won't carry a gun I cannot shoot well and 99.9% of the time a factory action won't let me shoot to the best of my ability. I don't get the reasoning behind your question.

I'm going to fire 4 or 5 hundred rounds through it before I carry it. Shoot, reload, shoot. Again I don't understand where you are coming from with "proving process."

I got my first CHL 10 years ago next month, I was one of the first 600 CHL holders in Arkansas. I've been through all the in's and out's of carry and I know what I like (this month anyway). I studied on having this gun built for quite a while, finding a base gun, deciding what I wanted done and looking at gunsmiths took me more than a year, then I sent the gun off.

Don't take my post the wrong way, I don't understand where you are coming from with your questions.

  6. Suh-weeeeeet!!

(but what's that weird thing sticking up from the hammer??)

Many years ago Budweiser signed a contract with S&W in order to gain a foothold in the outdoor market. Thus the first firearm with a built in beer bottle opener was born. Later the bottle opener was found to aid in the cocking of a revolver and was dubbed a "hammer spur."

Those of us in the know still keep with the original intent of the design.

    1:9 Twist 24" Heavy Barrel

3-3.5lb trigger (if it is over 2.5lbs I'll kiss your a**)

    Tactical Operating System

    Bench Rest Stock

    JP Brake

Presentation Grade Silver & Black Finish

Topped it off with a pair of TPS rings, as beefy as Badger's but almost half the price, and a Leupy 8.5-25X50 LRT.

Initial groups from the 30 rounds I've fired have been one hole at 50 yards, weather and a lack of time have severely limited my range sessions but next week I will have plenty of time to test her out.

  8. I just got off the phone with JP and ordered my CTR-02.

    1:9 Twist 24" Heavy Barrel

    3-3.5lb trigger

    Tactical Operating System

    Bench Rest Stock

    JP Brake

Presentation Grade Silver & Black Finish

    Large Black T-shirt

Approximately a 6 week build time.

I feel really poor now, but can't wait to throw them the other $1465 for the other half of the rifle.

JP is switching vendors for their lowers, they have 9 in stock after my order and they are unsure how long it will be before they start receiving lowers from their new vendor (the new vendor is working on their line now though).

  9. I ordered a holster from them a couple of years ago, I wanted it for a match so I ordered it 2nd day air, no reply, no receipt but my credit card was charged.

Since I couldn't get in touch with anyone for three days, I was off work and made several phone calls and sent a couple of emails, and I didn't know if the holster was going to show up for the match, I bought another one from someone else, 12 days later the holster shows up.

I start calling Rush again and again and again to return the holster, finally after 4 or 5 days I get in touch with some chick and she tells me that she needs to talk to the owner. The owner gets on the phone and starts questioning me why I'm returning the item and by the tone in his phone I'm an ass for wanting to return the holster, but he tells me what to do.

I get the holster sent off, checked the tracking on it and made sure it arrived safely. A week goes by and I still don't have a refund, so I start calling them almost daily again. I call Rush 3 or 4 times a week for 4 months and never speak with anyone or get my messages returned, so I contact the Miami BBB. I filled out the BBB forms and got them sent off the day I receive them.

About 3 weeks after I sent in my BBB stuff, my cell phone rings and it's someone from Rush apologizing and falling over themselves to get me my refund. The woman said they fired the person who was taking care of all the returns and it had taken nearly 5 months to get everything straightened out, seems kinda coincidental.

    Stay away from Rush.
