  1. As to placement and speed, you're in an undiscovered country!!! I've never heard of anyone doing it, but if it winds up being faster then you can lay claim to being the innovator.

I've got 7 or 8 shotguns with the sight mounted rearward, and have never noticed the rear sight unless I wanted to use it, so as for it being obstructive???????

  2. XS makes different height sights, if you need to file the sight to the proper height, just need to know which height sight to start with, so you dont wind up with a taller sight than you need that has a very DEEP notch in it. measure your mid bead, and add, either .05 (XS recommended dovetail depth), or .075 which is my recommended dovetail depth. if youre going to file a notch then take that into consideration as well. sight heights are, .100, .120, .150, .170 this measurement is from the base of the sight to the top of the shallow V. my guess is .120 or .150 should work just fine, as .150 is what i use on most every installation ive done when placing it back on the rib.

try to cut the dovetail over a rib support to give it rigidity, and when you file your notch, place electrical tape in front and behind the sight to help keep from scratching your rib with the file.

if you call XS and ask for Monte Long he can send you what you need.

  3. sight radius makes for more accuracy. so having it closer to the front would kinda negate the basic reasoning for having one. that ol pat kelley sure has lots of good info to share, being around for so long you pick up a lot from other shooters.

  4. Apparently so, accidentally I assume. I have them saved on my phone and will post here.

You can see from the reflected light how more and less sharp the extractor cut edges are, more light equals less sharp

  5. 24", yes use a clamp, especially if you are less than gentle throwing it into dump barrels or boxes, yes the LOP can be shortened, yes the fore end can be shortened.

Now im quite sure others will completely disagree with me, and I can't blame them I only have 8+ years on the platform, so im a relative newby to this sort of stuff.

  6. Sorry, again flooding has kept me busy.

Yes, I played with the prototype and easily got hits out to 400yds, using the first drop dot. I never needed to put the second drop dot to use with my zero.

It is a really cool sight, that seems up to the treatment that we tend to give stuff.

Here is a pic of my 400 yard hits, low on the plate, and a 100 yd group on the orange square.

The plate is a roughly 4 moa, 12x18, 5 hits.

  8. Shieldpsd.com the original maker of the minisight, and current maker the optical sight used by UK SAS. makes a BDC 3 vert dot sight. that works with both 308/150gr and 223/62gr at milspec velocity. the reticle was designed by multigunners to be user friendly with all the popular loads we use in rifles.

  9. as usual it wasa very good match, nothing too challenging for beginners and experienced shooters will push themselves and others to thier limits, and beyond. I highly recommended this match to new shooters last year because it was an excellent one to try out and get into practical shotgunning. this years match was a duplicate, if you want to try your hand at practical shotgunning this is a good one to put on the list.

I still dont care for the spinners, due to them being so subjective a target, i shot one stage very well and managed to spin one in 2 shots, and had another that took 4 or 5 shots, that target can take a well shot stage and trash it simply because of mistiming or a simple malfunction. I also didnt care for the shooter activated clays due to the inconsistencies of the activators. The duck blind stage had 8 flying clays that were stage staff activated and it was up to the shooter to just hit them, ...great stage!!! I liked the true flying clays launched from real clay throwers, its a lot easier to tell when the clay has been hit from them as opposed to a flipper, the use of "kicker" (i think) clay launchers is a great improvement over clay flippers all the presentations ive seen from them have been excellent when they were loaded correctly. when they launch a "mini" clay that baby really takes off, especially when done by a full size popper.

I whole heartedly appreciate the efforts of the RO's and staff, and look forward to seeing next years dates,

  10. I think thats the "issue" here is too much I heard or Ive been told by so and so, or so and so did it!!.............. Call ATF and ask them if you want the straight scoop.

Technically even what I'm telling you is heresay. but to move a sr# requires "official" permission and the mover should be able to provide that "official" permission to you, in writing.

  11. 870's are notorious for the staked in feed latches to work loose, I watched the late great Eddie Rhodes have to deal with this issue during a DPMS Trigun match. If the 870 is a former LE gun they get cycled a lot and not taken proper care of so stuff wears out quick. if the gun has had a lot of rounds thru it without adequate lubrication they will wear out parts faster. If the feed latches have somehow worked loose they can be tight one secoond and loose the next so its difficult to diagnose, especially with the gun put together. It is much easier to check these with the gun completely apart and nothing in the receiver except the the latches. If they are loose its an easy fix to get them restaked in place, most good old fashioned gunsmiths can do this, or send it to Carlsons, Briley, or Simmons.

From what I can see from your video that is the first thing I would look at, you can eliminate the extended spring, ext tube and such by simply trying to duplicate the malf. with the stock 5 shot tube.
