Boogyman customs is local to Tucson area. I've seen quite a few examples of his work and it always looks great. I've heard he's very reasonable for pricing as well.

Any idea what the standard size run? also 18? or 17lbs? To date I have about 1600 rounds through my OZ9, luckily no issues at all. My dad bought one after shooting mine and he had a lot of extraction issues. He switched to an apex extractor and its been flawless ever since. Luckily it was a reasonably easy issue to fix.

Thanks for sharing. Cant wait to shoot. Dont know if I'll get one, we'll see.
The only big downside is the finish. at least on the lots the USBP received the finish would wear down badly after a few hundred dry fire draws and a couple hundred rounds for training and qualification any contact points with the holster wore the finish clean off. Hopefully they fix it for the general release.

The g45 is a nice offering with the 17 size grip and the 19 size slide…I’ve heard rumors Glock is discontinuing the g17 in the near future - and will instead be offering, the once only available to Border Patrol, g47 after Shot Show 23’.
Just rumors I’ve heard don’t castrate me if I’m not correct!!
Enough people have been circulating the rumors so I'm pretty sure they're going to be putting the 47 out to the public. Having been issued the 47 I can say it's a great platform. The ability to make a 45, or 19x or whatever from a full size is a fun/practical option. I only have a few thousand rounds through the 47 but it handles like every 17 I've ever shot and is compatible with all the same holsters.

I am thinking about adding a Holosun 507K to my 43X and having it milled into the slide by the Glock Store in TN. Anyone have any experience with them?
I know there are a million options out there but boogeyman customs in Tucson does outstanding work and his prices are very reasonable.

Glock 19. I’m a small human and the 19 is a little more comfortable for me. I can get away with a 17 but it’s not as comfortable. In the AZ summer I’ll be 100% honest I will take a ruger lcr more often.

I finally picked up an OZ9 (against my better judgement based on what I read on this thread). I only have 500 rounds through it but so far it has been great. I'm hoping that it continues to be a good pistol. Planning on shooting CO with it in USPSA and IDPA. I think the only thing it needs (barring any of the major issues that might occur based on what I've read here) is a tungsten guide rod. But so far so good.... Fingers Crossed. If not then I guess there are a lot of dudes who can legitimately say they told me so!

I believe this was an issue with some of the initial production runs, but they have since fixed a majority of the issues.
Thanks! Been humming and hawing about grabbing one but have been hesitant due to the issues reported here. Thinking I’m gonna chance it and maybe I’ll get lucky or maybe I’ll be back reporting my poor choices to y’all.

Hi guys,
I think I should jump in and give you a good idea of what happened to the Zev OZ9 from start to where it's at right now, and that should clarify a lot of things and hopefully help you make a good decision or fix your current issues.
I am a competitive shooter and i've been sponsored by Zev and shooting the OZ9's since the very beginning. In fact, I have the first batch that Zev ever produced, with all 3 of my guns serial number below 00100. I have over 130 000 rounds with the guns, so trust me, I've had probably all of the possible issues you could imagine or already had. Gun firing full auto or bursts, barrel lug sheared off, broken slide stop, broken slide post, failure to extract/eject, magazines (10 rounders) won't drop, etc etc. The good thing is, Zev have been very receptive and listened to the issues and fixed them very quickly.
Here are the most common issues and fixes ;
- Gun firing auto/burst ; Zev Recall, they will replace your trigger bar/parts. It works very well, no issues anymore
- Extraction/Ejection issues ; Zev replaced the extractor for the new "enhanced extractor" with the new longer extractor plunger and spring. Look for the Zev // hashmarks on the new extractor. Also, I recommend you install a Glock Gen 4/5 Ejector (on the trigger housing)
- Barrel lug shearing off ; Zev have redesigned the barrel lug, new metal, new rifling. This one is in the mail and will have it next Wednesday and I can update you guys if interested.
- Broken slide stop ; Zev are now making their slide stop in-house and the issue is fixed. I recommend you install a Glock Gen 3 slide stop if you have one.
- Magazines won't drop ; Zev have replaced their magazine release for a new design that is narrower and will drop 10 round magazines no issues.
Is this a pain in the ass ? Yes. Did Zev release the Zev OZ9 too early ? Probably. Did they work hard to fix all the issues ? f*#k yes. Remember that Sig had to recall all their P320 models because of the Firing Control Unit safety issues. It is not uncommon for a new firearm to face issues, the most important is that they do something about it, quickly.
I have all the above fixes on my guns, all 3 of them, and I haven't had one malfunction in over 60 000 rounds. The most important thing for me as a traveling competition shooter and instructor is reliability, and I can say that now I can trust my guns to perform and function flawlessly regardless of what ammo I am shooting.
This is my build for all 3 of my OZ9 for IPSC/USPSA Competitions ;
- Johnny Glocks Hybrid trigger w/flat shoe. (Reason for Johnny Glocks is I can adjust the reset to a very short one and glass break)
- Johnny Glocks Striker
- Johnny Glocks safety plunger
- Johnny Glocks safety plunger spring
- Johnny Glocks trigger return spring
- Johnny Glocks 4.5# striker spring (or Wolff)
- Zev ISMI 13# recoil spring
- Zev polymer red striker cups
- Zev polymer red channel liner
- Zev polymer red striker sleeve
- Zev polymer red extractor plunger pin
- Zev enhanced extractor
- Zev enhanced extractor plunger/spring
- Zev Optimized match barrel
- Zev Tungsten grip (coming soon, it is incredibly perfectly balanced, recoil is ridiculously flat)
- Gen 3 slide stop- Gen 4 ejector
- Trijicon SRO 5 MOA
- #4-40 x 5/16 Torx plus flat head screws
- Glock 17 Gen 5 magazines
- Wolff +10% magazine spring
- Henning EDC PRO basepads
I hope this helps,
Max Latulippe
Any eta on the tungsten grips?

what is the max weight they can be?
-
the stock 2 and 3 have the same frame (aside from finish) I think the stock 3 has a longer sight radius. I switched from a CZ SP01 to a stock 2 and love it. If you can, handle both the stock 2 and 3 and see which you like better.
-
I have it in my gun, don't know about the length of pull but I like the xtreme better than the stock.
-
Yeah the Hammer Pin. A gunsmith called it the Boss pin so that's what I used. I never tested trigger pull with it off, it started malfunctioning (skipping cylinders) so I took the side plate off to see and found the hammer pin broken (it's just an MIM pin pressed into the frame). So, I guess the question is: would a steel pin have broken the same way with as little use?
-
They why did the Boss pin snap after so little use? I'm not being snippy or anything, you all know more about it than I do so I figured this would be the spot to get learnerd up.
-
the pro series uses mim parts, not sure about the PC line. I had the boss pin break in my 625 JM Pro after 4 or 5 matches and some practice (no more than 1,000 rounds). Granted Smith sent me a brand new gun, it just took 5 months. If the PC line doesn't use MIM parts I'd go that route but that's just my opinion.
-
my bad... I'm apparently reading and comprehension impaired. I saw it just didn't dawn on me that we're talking IPSC
-
Stock 2 xtreme is on the approved USPSA production list.
-
Stock II and III should have the same grip feel and same trigger feel and parts. The Xtreme guns do have the Xtreme trigger group parts which will improve the DA and AS trigger pull. You can also get a standard gun and replace the parts yourself, along with polishing. That is the route I went with my Stock II, and it was a LOT cheaper than a Stock II Xtreme.
Plus 1. Had the same thing done with mine (I'm not mechanically inclined so I had a gunsmith do it) and he got it down to a 6.5lbs double and a 2.25 lbs single action.
-
Here are the parts I have put into all of my guns. I have had great results with the combination of everything and see no reason to change.
EGD front sight
EGD Titan Hammer
EGD light hammer spring
EGD light firing pin spring
EGD trigger
EGD aluminum grips
Tanfoglio one piece sear
Henning firing pin
Tanfoglio wide safety
CGW T3 disco
CGW sear spring
CGW trigger return spring
9 pound recoil spring
I polish everything and go shooting.
what do you use to polish? stone or high grit sandpaper??
-
I appreciate all the input. Keep the suggestions coming!
-
Benstoegerproshop.com has them (last I looked, which admittedly was a while ago).
-
I've been pretty happy with springs and lots of polishing. Also went with henning gen 4 firing pin and took some off hammer hooks. Low cost and great results for trigger.
The hammer is only surface hardened sooner or later you will have problems with it unless you get it rehardened
What do you mean rehardened? like re-finished?
I'm not sure what you mean by rehardened

They're almost identical. I've shot a few thousand rounds through the 47 and I can't tell a discernable difference between the 17 and the 47. I'm sure there are some who can but I'm just not that good.
