  1. Hi, I got a custom 1911 Caspian with a Schuemann .355 Ultimatch barrel, but are having problems with bullets all over the target.

I have another 6" 2011 with a .355 Bar-Sto and this shoots very nice groups with HAP 125gr and plated bullets, but the Schuemann barrel speds all over the target.

My target load is 3.6gr N320,  the velocity is the almost the same from these two barrels, but the groups are very different :(

I have just fired about 500 rounds in the Schuemann.

Do you have any tips to improve the accrucy in the Schuemann barrel?

    Diffrent bullets or different power?

  2. Hornady and Lymen gas checks are starting to get expencive, so I am looking for other brands/types of gas checks.

I am casting and shooting bullets in 40 and 44 revolvers.

Will I get any different result with Zink gas checks then I get with copper gas checks from Hornady and Lyman?

Will I get a zink or Aluminum coating in my barrel?

  3. Hi, I have a 610 which I use in a dicipline called fieldshooting here in Norway.

I cast my own bullets from NEI bullet moulds:

But the chambers in the cylinder are to short to crimp the brass in the crimping groove, I must crimp in front of the crimping groove.

What tools can I use to lenghtening the chambers to fit a longer cartridge?

Can I use this tool: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=319489

or are there other tools which are more suited my problem.

    Best regards,

    Harald

  4. Here is a pic of my friends STI barrel to the left, and my Schuemann gunsmith fittet barrel to the right.

The STI barrel chamber is wide and my barrel is not.

The ramp goes in the chamber on the STI barrel, but on my barrel it is not inside the chamber.post-3274-127437838056_thumb.jpg

  5. Hi, G-ManBart

I have used the same ammo for 4 years and never had any problems of any kind.

That made me confused; same ammo in different gun and a strange result.

My 6" STI have a bullbarrel and this new 5" have a bushingbarrel, but I do not think the fired primers should look any different.

    I am confused....

  6. My friend just got a brand new 5" STI Trojan in 9mm, this is a std Trojan from STI with a reciol master.

When he tried my reloaded ammo in his gun, the fired primers looked strange.

I use Rem. sp primers, 120 gr TC lead bullets sized .356 and 3.2gr vv 310, this is a light target load. Fired in my 6" STI the power factor is 131.

I think the recil spring was very light, can this cause the strange primers?

My gun have a #7 recoilspring, and I do not get this kind of strange primers after firing.

Any tips? new recoil spring? different firingpin?post-3274-127429694334_thumb.jpg

  7. I shot the match without any problems.

I used my Dremmel one the slide stop, like Brazos custom explains.

Then I used a fine Arkansas stone and removed a sharp corner on the under side of the slide. This sharp corner made the marks on the last round in the magazine. Like the one pic in post 11.

I used the macro fungtion one the camera, that is why the round looks "pregnant"

And I crimped the bullets a bit more.

Last week I sent the gun to my gunsmith to have the frontsight adjusted a little lower.

He will check the gun ;)

  8. I just got my 1911 from my gunsmith today.

I am shooting bulleye, my load is 4.5gr 310 and a 200gr cast SWC

    I load magazines with 6 - 8 shots, I have tried 3 Wilson 47 and 1 shooting star magazine.

First shots witout problems, but the next to last shot will not enter the chamber. When i push the magazin release butten the slide move forward and the shot go into the chamber.

Is the slide stop the problem?
