Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I got lucky and my wife got me a chrony brand chrono for Christmas. It's worked well so far. I have a 40 S&W and shoot 175gr cast SWC with 3 gr of bullseye at an ave of 775 fps. This gives me a little more than the 125,000 power factor. It has great accuracy and very little recoil it's lighter than my 9mm with 115gr at a 125 PF. The data I got was very different than what my loading manual listed. A Chrony is a must to ensure how it will shoot in your gun. Have fun. Mine ran about 109.99 with the memory and a remote readout.
  2. Thanks... I checked and cleaned my shell plate and that didn't fix it. I am going to call Dillon tomorow. If they are open on saturday.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. I will give it a try.
  4. I have a Square Deal with dies in 40 S&W, 9mm, and 45 ACP. The problem I’m having is when the press advances from the powder station to the bullet seating station I’m loosing some powder out of the case mouth just at the end of the indexing. I have to put my finger over the case to keep all of the powder in. Is this a common problem with the press or is something wrong. I haven’t heard of any one else complaining about having this problem. I am only loading 3gr. of Bullseye in my 40 S&W but its still a problem. If anyone has had a similar problem, I would love to get some info. Thanks
  5. It is correct that the military 98 Mauser is designed for controlled round feeding only. But many have been modified so you can put a round directly into the chamber without having to feed it from the mag. Most only require a slight angle change on the face of the extractor where it comes in contact with the cartridge as it is pushed into the chamber. I have altered several 98's this way and have not had any extraction problems or extractor failures. And Know of many that have had that alteration and have functioned well for over 40 years. If you don't want to change the angle of the Extractor usually you can squeeze the bow of the extractor as you are closing the bolt and it will lift the claw around the case rim as it chambers. I hope I have been of some help… This is the first time I have ever posted anything on a forum before.
