  1. i am loading 115 RN winchesters with 4.5 gn of w231 and cci primers. the gun shoots factory loads fine. except for light strikes everyonce in a while. i have a failer to eject about every 25 rounds.i think i might need more powder. i am going to load 4.8 grains and see if that helps.the gun wasnt feeding at first but got the chamber reemed out a little and polished it now it feeds pretty good. the problems now are light primes and failer to eject. i switched out the springs in the gun. i replaced them with 17 lb main spring 9lb recoil. i believe the recoil spring came with the firing pin spring. which spring is most responsible for the light strikes? i like the springs in the gun so wouldnt want to switch them back. i dont care about the firing pin spring as much as the other two unless i have to have it in conjunction with the others. could i stretch the main spring a little and give it a little more umph or is that a bad idea? my buddy has a 18 lb he would let me try but i dont know how that would change the feel of my trigger and etc. now he says he cut two coils off of his 18 lb and it will still fire rifle primers so maybe thats not the problem. it does this with factory and reloads. so i dont think that high primers is necessarly the problem. i am determined to get this gun running 100% but need some help. i welcome any advice anyone has. maybe some good clean recipes for reloads, w231 is kinda dirty.

  2. in febuary at a match in tx i made a 90 yard shot at a six by six rifle target ran out of ammo in my rifle and had to engage with my 9mm single stack to my surprise i hit it with one shot. today i was out at the farm shooting balloons with my rifles at 155 yard and i took a wack at it and about the 5th shot i nailed it. im shooting an sti spartan 9mm with dawson .100 front fiber optic sight. i love my gun

  3. I have an STI spartan and I absolutly love this gun its super accurate and fast. I wanna keep it forever but im wondering, is it possible to make this a better gun? as far as springs go. what springs do you guys recomend for this gun im talking every major function spring. would i gain any benefit from the STI recoil master? I would like to lighten up the trigger to a 2-2.5 pound trigger if possible and also less felt recoil and most importantly RELIABILITY.well any advice would be greatly apreciated.

  4. thanks for the picture ck1. but even the best of the best mess up under high stress situations, and i am not counting on a double feed or any type of malfunction although they do happen. i am ok with one malfunction out of 300 fast reloads. i look at it like shooting an A zone on the body rather than an A zone on a head shot. the a zone is bigger on the body which is faster and have a better chance of hitting it no matter the skill level. why aim at something way smaller when u can aim and hit the bigger target faster and more consistently? i am not worried about size.

  5. in the market for a new magwell. i currently have a smith and alexander and want something like a dp no gap magwell. my gun is a 9mm with wilson emt mags i want the mag to stick out of the bottom of the magwell just enough to easily seat a fully loaded 10 round mag. can i accomplish this with dp basepads? or does anyone know of any other set ups similar? without having to buy new mags. size of weight of the gun does not matter. i would apreciate any advice and would like to see some pictures. i would also like to see a picture of a dp no gap with wilson mags

  6. i have a twenty inch heavy fluted barrel that i want to run in 3 gun it is a target/varminter barrel with a target crown and i would like to thread the barrel and put a comp on it. does anyone know what comp would look good on a heavy barrel like that? not sure what the size is or if all heavy barrels are the same size. i would like a stainless comp.

  7. it sounds like it the same issue that the newer 870's have these days. Take a 1/4" wooden dowel and 0000 steel wool and polish the crap out of the chamber. Seems to be the fix for the 870's

i tried new ammo today i shot some federal and it worked well. no failers to extract or getting stuck. there was couple of times that they didnt go into the chamber as smooth as i would of liked, they get caught up somewhere.hopefully its something that my gun will break into. or is there something i need to be looking at to fix it? anybody know?

  8. Try different ammo, my 870 won't run those shells either. I've been told it's not that uncommon.

ok got another match tomorrow and will try it. what ammo do you recomend or should i just try em till i find one? i have five different shotguns all hunting shotty's semis and pump they all eat anything so I never thought it could be the ammo necessarly

  9. new to this forum and sport. my question is about the tristar pump 12 gauge. I picked one up for 200 the other day because I needed one for a 3 gun match. I shot it today at the match for the first time and it didnt go well. I shot about 6 rounds and then locked up with an empty one in the chamber it happened quite a few times. I was using winchesters 2 3/4, 7 1/2 shot it is the tactical short barrel model. any ideas? I figured since it was a pump it would run since ive never had a problem with my 870.Guess I thought wrong.
