  1. I just need to verify that WSF is a safe powder to work up a little. From what i have read it looks like it has a lot more potential than the manufactuers web data shows for it in the 147 gr. Also, you would have to think that VV's load listed at 1,200fps with 147gr is a +P load.

  2. I noticed that WSF is a slower powder than Silhouette and a litter faster than 3n37. Winchester's load data shows similiar velocity but about 2,000 psi lower. Are they being very conservative or is WSF one of those powders that get a little crazy when pushed?

  3. Thanks for the input. I just realized i missed some info on Accurate's load data. Their #7 will push just under 1,000 with their listed max load out of a 4 inch barrel. After days of reading not sure how i missed that.

    No 7 147 LC RN 5.3 878 6.3 996 34,748 1.145

Out of curiosity anybody have an idea what the psi would be running at 1,100? The following is their BJHP load:

    No 7 147 REM BJHP 5.9 872 6.7 986 34,976 1.165

Could this be pushed to 1,100 safely?

  4. After doing much research my understanding is that VV powder is the only ones that will drive 147's to 1,000 or more without being +p+? I have been trying to find a less expensive powder that would do the same but no indication on pressure levels above the listed manufacture data. Dont like Power Pistol. Read lots about AA#7, HS-6, Silhouette, WSF, but still dont have a lock on if or which i should try. I like the 147 weight in my new P228 for defense and want to have a practice load. Havent tried them yet but very interested in the Buffalo Bore load which is listed as a +P+ load. Dont intend to feed a steady diet of that but was planning on using leads running at least 1,000 fps. Not new to loading but new to 9mm and just getting back into loading after a decade of being on the sidelines. Also, if its possible to mimmick a 147 load with a different bullet weight im up for that too. Thanks to all those that make this site work. Love this website!
