  1. If you are just wanting to reload pistol ammo, you can find a Dillon Square Deal for under 200 bucks if you are paitient.I started with a Square Deal and then moved up to a 650 with case feeder. The Square Deal is a great press but will only load pistol rounds.I wish you luck.Ken

  2. Moving across an opening with a dry gun is completely different than reloading with retention while moving down a wall.At least with the RWR I have one round in the chamber and I'm moving along a wall not crossing open doorways.I would ding you for crossing an opening with a gun at slide lock or RWR.An open doorway is not the same as a wall.Page 43 1st paragraph states that if you are behind cover you may move while reloading and I will not call someone on it unless they change the rules.Ken

  3. My trigger pull is at 2.75 lbs and will get lighter as more rounds are put down range. So if I make it 3 lbs it will eventually get below the legal limit due to wear on the surfaces of the striker and connector as well as the springs wearing in.I don't want a 1 lbs trigger pull but I don't want to have to replace the internals after every 10,000 rounds either.I just hope they do away with this proposed rule.Ken

  4. Page 43 1st paragraph states that a competitior may move behind cover while reloading. So if I were going down a hall or wall then I can reload while moving as a wall is cover.Too many people have the same for everyone mentality if that was the case we should all load only six rounds in the gun and our reloads and just shoot one big division that would include all revolvers and autos then tell them its the same for everyone.(my ass it is).If you have to use this excuse your stage sucks.Ken

  5. I have both (homesmith and drop-in trigger kit) in different Glocks with no problems.I would have to say without seeing it that it was shooter error. Both Glocks that I shoot have sub 3 lbs triggers and the only way that they will fire is pulling the trigger.I would recommend setting up a video camera and doing some reloads to see what you are actually doing during the reloads.I would have also hung around helped paste, keep score,RO and help tear down.Good Luck,Ken

  6. I had that same problem with my SDB before I went with the 650.The index arm (white plastic thing with spring loaded steel tip)that indexes the shellplate had become worn and would make the shellplate jump hence spilling powder and causing primers to flip in the primer seating mechanism.Called Dillon and explained what the press was doing they sent me the parts free. That fixed it.Hope this helps.I would still call Dillon and see what the tech has to say. 1 800 223 4570.Good Luck,Ken

  7. Not that I know of I just change mine when that happens my 35 is the only Glock that I own that this happens to.I'm on my 3rd one after 30,000 rnds.Glock would not send me one stating that it had to be installed by an armorer so I just bought 5 from a guy on GT.Ken

  8. If it covers your weapon with your arms extended out to your side it is legal whether it is a shirt, vest, jacket or coat.I think a shirt is a little on the flimsy side as I wore one for a while and would always get a handful of it as well as the gun when drawing from the holster.Look around on ebay for a used 5.11 vest or check out www.pistolpacking.com as they have a nice vest without all the pockets of the 5.11.I wish you luck,Ken

  9. Duck,

I have been shooting a 35 in IDPA,USPSA and GSSF matches for a couple of years and haven't had anything get in the gun.It gets no dirtier than my G22,17,21,37,27.I think the 35 balances alot better than the others. As for as cutting or drilling my own holes in the gun "not gonna happen".If I felt that the lock time of the gun was holding me back and that would help maybe I would but it will be along time before I'm that good.Ken

  10. I use wolff reduced striker spring and have a home made trigger job that's 2.5 lbs.I reload using winchester standard small pistol primers and have never had a problem except for a small batch of primers (1000) that wouldn't go off even if you hit them with a hammer. That wasn't the whole 1000 maybe 100 but maybe that could be your problem.Try a different LOT # and see if the problem persists.Wish you luck,Ken

  11. MS,

Thanks for the clarification.I see the problems that the 34 would present.I know that the 34 slide is the same weight as the 22 slide and the 35 is a little heavier.Have you tried to make an open set-up out of the 35? I want to play around with the 35 ,I know the round capacity will be lower but the 40 lends itself more to minor and major than the 9mm does as you really have to push the 9 to make major and if I shoot a couple of GSSF matches there is no PF plus round count doesn't come into play. This topic is getting interesting. Thanks,Ken

  12. Yeah he's like a kid waiting for Santa to come. We're going to the range tommorow to put a few rounds down range and will give it a good wringing out.He will probably be at UPS in the morning before they open. The gun looks great in the pics.

    RTR,

The magwell can't be over 1 5/8 in wide.As for the weight limits I couldn't tell you the exact number as I shoot a Glock (you could tie a brick to it and probably still make weight)LOL

If I was looking to get a 1911 for competition Dan Bedell would be getting my money.Ken

  13. Beta,

Glad you like the 5.11 vest, yeah it has a few pockets.

    9x45,

I am glad you are getting enjoyment out of the sport and I didn't mean to rub you the wrong way I was just stating that some people play the game for other reasons.Nor did I imply that you didn't know who the top shooters were.Sorry if I upset you.Ken

  14. Have put alot of thought into getting some proffesional instruction lately and was wondering on the average what does it cost?

I have the chance to take an one on one class with a GM this coming month for $200 plus lodging.Seems to be a good instructor and is definantly a great shooter and I feel the fee is fair.Just wondering what others were charging for their class.

Would also like to take one of Dave Sevigny's classes this year also, has anyone taken a class from him?

    Thanks,Ken

  15. Tac vests are phony, nobody wears them everyday, not even photographers or cops.....

That may be true for the street but all the top shooters wear them to play the game and that's what I'm doing.I'm glad you are doing it for your own reasons but in the end it is just a game, that's why they keep score.

Beta may be in it to play the game too and a vest is faster than pulling a t-shirt up and then drawing and faster than trying to sweep a flimsy shirt out of the way to make a draw.

Not knocking the way you choose to view IDPA just stating that it depends on what you are wanting to get out of it in the end that matters and for me it is the fastest times not street training.Ken
