Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Seeing how it's been bumping 100 here for weeks I thought I'd run test these this morning in some decent temps. It was threatening rain and just 75. Started to rain before we left the range though. My lot is 0221112150. Didn't buy but 3 small bottles for testing.
  2. I can never find any data for a 19C so I thought I'd post my results. I have been shooting Zero 115 JHPs with Unique and needed 6 grains to make over 125 pf at 1.15". It is a nasty and loud load. Seems the shorter barrel and ports loose a lot of velocity. I kept hearing about soft loads with 147's and Solo 1000 and here are my results: Berry's 147 Plated. OAL 1.135" Wolf SP primers Stock recoil spring Temp 75* 3.0 = 751 fps no slide lock, 2 misfeeds in 15 rounds 3.25 = 781 fps functioned fine 3.4 = 825 fps same 3.6 = 865 fps same 3.8* = 884 fps same The Accurate data lists 3.0 @ 767 fps up to 3.7 @ 871 fps and a length of 1.16. So I'm getting their published velocities, in spite of the ports, but with a shorter OAL . I couldn't believe how clean the pistol was with this powder. Looks like it hasn't been shot. Substantially quieter too. I've found my new powder.
  3. Your local post office is feeding you a line of total bullcrap. There is no reason to use registered mail. For shipments between FFL holders, insured priority mail is perfectly fine. FFL to FFL can go flat-rate box or priority, they are misinformed.
  4. Where do you get lanolin? I got a 1# tub through my pharmacy, there are likely on-line sources that are cheaper. Bag Balm and similar products are mostly lanolin.
  5. Reputation is they are reliable, go bang when you pull the trigger, and have a sorry trigger pull. The factory service center in Texas will do an very acceptable tigger job on one if returned complaining about it. Academy Sports, if you are near one, often has them for a reasonable price with the S&W rebate. I'd buy one before a Hi Point!
  6. Anyone have any experience with 52 or 53 SMk's and TAC? Looking for a less expensive 100-200 yd. service rifle practice load. I understand TAC is usually cleaner than H335?
