  1. Yep the smith is not really giving up to much information as to where it is or exactly how may times it has been redone. Bit of a worry
  2. i have also had a number of guns plated in the past from blue to chrome as well as a number og other people i know without any problems but that was a number of years ago & that plater no longer does firearms. Think i will send him a email requesting more information & see what comes back
  3. Hi All I am currently having my STI eagle hard chromed through a gunsmith in another state that a first was going to take 2 weeks to complete. After 9 weeks it still is not back from the platers & the smith informs me that they have had to redo it a number of times due to the fact that it was orginally blued. Anyone heard of issues hardchroming a blued gun before ?
  4. Hi all I am looking at replacing the top end on my STI trubor & have noticed that the old barrel has a fair amount of movement between the ramp on the barrel & the cutout in the frame allowing the barrel to twist slightly. As i will be reusing the frame just wondering how much clearance is acceptable in this area.
  5. I have tried to file & smooth the sides of the follower but didnt make any difference only caused the follower to try & come out past the feed lips. I thinks it where the rounds start to double stack as it never does it with about 5 rounds left. Using 38 super makes it worse not too bad with supercomp
  6. How you going I also had this issue & when i contacted Dawson they said the mandrel should go all the way up. They touch on it briefly in the video about how the rounds should snap up & if not the sides need sizing but i havent been able to find out how. Anyone else know how to size them
  7. Thanks for the reply. Have just had a good look at my magazines & i see exactly what your talking about. the side where the slide stop engages is sitting down a bit causing it to tilt over. i have set the feed lips as per dawson for 38 super to .350 at the back & .355 at the front. that made a lot better but still jams. will get out the file on the followers
  8. Hi all I have had the slide lockback disengaged by modifing the slide stop & followers but if the slide closes on a empty chamber it hits the back of the follower & jams & the magazine cannot be removed untill you pull the slide back. I am using sti 140mm mags that have had the feed lips sized but the follower still seem too high. Does it on STI & Grams followers but the all seem to be tilted to one side. Has anyone experienced this before
