Erik: Most people use their barrel as a case gauge. That's what I do. The 357SIG does indeed headspace on the shoulder, although there's lots of confusion about it. A couple of people have measured their chambers and determined the case mouth doesn't even come close to the end of the chamber. Semi-auto pistol rounds are full-length sized every time, so if you have quality dies, your reloads should meet SAAMI specs. A case gauge in this case is a convenience that should allow confirmation of consistency between rounds. In theory, better consistency should result in improved accuracy.
