  1. I have a 2011 open gun (Serendipity sight w/blast shield and a go guns thumb rest). I currently use a COM holster and like it.

I'm interested in purchasing a second one. However, I no longer seem to be able to find the website. Are they still around? Did their name change?

Alternatively, are there any other options? (a locking kydex would be awesome!)

FWIW: I use an 014 for USPSA but I like the kydex protection for multigun matches like the Ironman/HaH.

    Thanks!

  2. If it's working great for you... Don't mess with it :)

I only run CMJs through my open guns... They've been very accurate and I figure it's the profile least likely to have feed/cycle problems. FWIW I haven't tried anything else as I've had no reason to do so.

  3. Can you fit enough of it in the case to make major with 9?

I've been told it fills an entire 38SC case....

ps... Should move this to the 9/38 sub forum...probably get more responses

  4. Great drill! Thanks!

I'm all over the place...which is ok since that means I have lots of room to improve! :)

PM incoming for Part 2. Can't wait to find out what it is!

  5. I've always wondered the same thing... I guess ultimate magazine loader just doesn't have the same ring?

That being said this is one of my greatest 20ish buck purchases ever... I challenge you to find a quicker way to blow through 22 ammo!

  6. I would ask your gunsmith if he has a preference. Yes, it's your gun and I'm sure he would make it how you want. BUT I believe part of the pricetag is paying for the gunsmiths knowledge and expertise. Plus he's the one that has to fit it, etc...

  7. I use a Ruger MKIII 22/45RP, bull barrel, volquartsen trigger kit, Cmore. Might be the most fun gun I own... Especially coupled with the "ultimate clip loader" ... Wow you can shoot 22 ammo fast!

As to cleaning... You get good at taking them apart. I normally just wipe mine down and run a bore snake through it. About every 5k I'll strip it. I had to replace the extractor at about 20k.

  8. If scoring isn't an issue I sincerely doubt we would all be running around at 170 power factor...

I think minor is under rated. Look you aren't going to win open nationals shooting minor (actually Eric won by 5%... It'd be interesting to run the math and see if he would have still won with minor) but most of us won't anyways. If the reduction in impulse and therefore the increase in confidence results in you shooting more/better/faster... Which in turn leads to more fun... DO IT!!!

  9. Understand that when I shoot a plate rack I tend to aim for different plates to do a bit of transition training as opposed to shooting them straight down the line. I usually practice this at 20-25 yards. It's helped alot with my transition shooting.

As far as using a .22 and the differences in recoil....simple reason why I don't- train like you fight. Food for thought. Good luck in your training.

For starters we are playing a game not fighting. Second Open guns don't have all that much recoil to start with and second even for fighting guns .22 practice helps with the fundamentals and its very valuable. Practicing with my 22 is what has helped me go up to B class recently in Open. I also use my .22 AR a lot for practice. I am not saying you still should not practice with your full power race gun you should. But practice with a .22 trainer where you can litterally afford to shoot thousands of rounds is also a good thing. Proof is in the pudding and its working for me.

22 practice has helped me greatly as well. I normally fire twice as many 22 rounds as match rounds when I practice. I make the targets harder for the 22 and always finish sessions with my match rounds.

Is that as good as only using match rounds? I don't think so. Is it the best alternative I have found to maximize my ability to do live fire practice? Yes, from both money and time perspectives.

Ohh... And the 22 is just fun

  10. When I bought a bunch of tubes I also got the two different 'types' ... Though on mine the hole for the mag catch was also different.

So far both have run flawlessly... Like yoshidaex said I figured it was just a manufacturing change to make them cheaper...

  11. I'm not sure that this is really a best practice... But on the 1911 can she rack the slide if she cocks the hammer first?

Might try some different arm angles/grips as well. I know when I first got a desert eagle I could only rack it if I got a really strong and firm grip.

Improving hand, wrist, and forearm strength never hurts... There are many fancy thigs you can buy but I just use racquetballs (squeeze them) and wrist rollers.
