Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hello Everyone. This is my first post so please go easy on me... I have an STI High Performance Edge that I purchased from Brazos Custom about 4 years ago and I absolutely love it. I have been shooting the gun a lot more lately and notice that on occasion, as I practice the high thumb grip, I am not fully depressing the grip safety and the gun will not fire. I have big hands, not huge, and they are pretty meaty. I feel that the ICE magwell is pushing the bottom of my hand off of the grip which is not allowing me to consistently depress the grip safety. My initial thought was to buy one of the new magwells that are cut away for additional large hand clearance to see how that worked. I was in the final stages of deciding between the ICE, EMG, Brazos, etc. when I came across a picture of a 2011 with an arched main spring housing. That got me thinking that if I made that modification instead, it might raise my hand, tilt it forward and help it clear the magwell which would allow me to consistently depress the grip safety. I have also thought about changing the grip safety to one of the "memory" versions but I only want to make one change at a time. I really do not want to disable / pin the grip safety. I am looking for thoughts on either going with the "large hand" style magwell or trying the arched mainspring. Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice.
