  1. UMC is pretty close but it depends on the gun- some barrels are faster than others. Don't ever assume....

<div><br></div><div>If you don't make MINOR- you don't get bumped to Open you get a DQ.</div>

No, you just shoot for no score or recognition. Definitely not a DQ.

    Appdx C2 39

If the resultant power factor fails to meet the minimum power factor floor

for the relevant Division, the competitor may continue shooting the match,

but not for score or match recognition.

So this rule means that any ammo used be hand loaded?

Actually, what it means that your ammo and gun combination must meet the required minimum power factor as you have declared when you sign up for the match, as measured by the chronograph procedure. The rules don't make a distinction as to hand load or factory - for the reason one could take reloads, pretty them up and stick them in factory boxes and claim "I'm shooting factory". They're both treated the same at the match.

Every competitor must validate their ammo shoots through their gun at the required power factor. What we are suggesting to everyone is don't make the assumption that just because it is factory produced ammunition that it will shoot the required power factor. Many will with room to spare, but it depends on the gun, length of barrel, the manufacturer's variances and whole host of factors down to the weather an even your altitude above sea level on how ammo will perform. It's best to validate your gun and ammo configuration with a chronograph than to make that assumption.

I got 135 from my G34 using UMC at Smith & Wesson Indoor Nats.

  2. I made ESP SS on my first attemp last fall. I shot a second in February with a new gun and made little improvement. I have my next classifier coming up this monday. I hope to try for both ESP and then SSP expert if there is enough time. My trouble is my nervs get the best of me during classifires and my accuracy suffers.

  3. I just ordered an O.D. green G34 today myself. I used a borrowed one on monday and shot my best match ever with nothing more than 2 dry fires before starting. I had to have one!

Just curious where you ordered it from? Did not think there were any more new ones. Maybe old stock somewhere?

    Enjoy it!!!

I ordered it from edspublicsafety.com. You have to either be Police, active military or.. a member of GSSF. You can join GSSF when you order and get an outstanding price!

  4. Hi all, I have been looking at the M&P pro series 9mm however, I live in NY and the Pro 9 is only offered in 17+1 capacity which makes it illegal in NY.

Sorry to hear that. Whenever I get homesick (born and raised in Troy, NY) I just remember how hard New York makes it on us gun-owners and I'm over it real quick.

Thanks for all your input guys. After shooting a loaned Glock 34 on monday's weekly IDPA match. I just ordered an O.D. green G34 today.

  5. Hi all, I have been looking at the M&P pro series 9mm whowever, I live in NY and the Pro 9 is only offered in 17+1 capacity whick makes it illegal in NY. I called and talked to Smith customer service to confirm that it s not offered in 10+1. This makes no sense to me since the Pro is claimed to be made for USPSA/IDPA competition, both of which have a division capacity of 10+1. When I questioned S&W, all I got was "I don't know, that's a marketing call". I just shot the M+P 9L and really loved the grip geometly and overall feel of the gun so, I'm kind of bummed.

Don't worry man. If you drop an apex competition kit in it you will have a better gun than the pro. You can put whatever sights you want on it.

Is that what you run? If so, Do you have any reliability issues with the lighter springs?

Every trigger pull makes the bullets go bang. I was having issues with extraction but that was because I hadn't changed the extractor spring in over 5K rounds. The apex kit made it way better than the pro trigger I had. The reset is very short and well defined. The break is very clean. The closest you can get to a 1911 trigger in a non 1911 gun. IMHO

    Ok, thanks for your input.

  7. Find a buddy in PA(or anywhere really) to buy one and keep your mags. Then he can ship it to your FFL to do the required legal transfer work to you.

That would be legal and would follow correct federal laws and procedures. Not sure about NY laws though.

Thanks, That would work if I knew someone,

  10. I've heard several people talk about shooting using only the front sight. I assume this is "point shooting". What I am wondering is, where I can find info on learning how to do this. My guess is that if I could get this down, I could cut a substantial time off my transistions. Typically, when I push the envelope on speed "not taking time to aim", my accuracy goes down fast.

  11. Where are you, in New York? Where do you shoot?

I've been shooting Dutchess County and Albany,

    as well in Pennsylvania.

    Jack

Hi Jack, sorry for the long delay in getting back.... I live in woodstock and have been shooting at DCPA as well as with the NYCRDPL in Schenectady. Feel free to PM me if you like.

    Doug
