  1. In my 5" barrel akai I found that lead 180gr with 4.6 to 4.7 grs of wst at 1.176 oal length got me 170 to 171 pf with great accuracy. I just don't like the smoke as opposed to fmj or hollow point zero bullets. I'm down to 7lbs of n320(hard to find) and have some wst that I would like to try with a 5.4 svi non aet barrel using 180 gr zero bullets has anyone tried this combo? If so I would appreciate some load data

    Thanks

  2. I have never had an issue with WST metering, going minor, etc. $100 for 4 lbs vs $130 for 8? No brainer.I still have 16lbs of N320, and I am gonna try to trade it for WST along with some cash from the person I trade with.

    +1

WST is my go to powder for .40 Limited Major loads. I like the feel better than N320.

I do use N320 for my 9mm production load though.

  3. Armydoc. Give shay a call at Akai custom guns he will spend the time with you to make sure you get what you want. And his customer service is great. Pm me if you have any questions

I agree I am totally satisfied with my Akai limited gun and found Shay to a standup guy that spent alot of time helping me decide options on my gun build. I purchased mine Nov last year and could not be happier slide is like butter, drives nails and recoils less with same PF loads as my old STI stock Executive (he says that is because the barrel stays locked up longer and a few other tricks). To top it off it is lighter than the Executive almost as light as my Eagle .40.

  4. Go to a match and shoot with what you have after you get your ar 15 its easy to buy alot of the wrong equipment, basics are a holster that holds handgun secure which you should already have since shooting uspsa and idpa (I would assume you have pistol mag pouches also since shooting uspsa and idpa). Like stated above good reliable Ar 15 30 (3 if possible) round mags magpul for me work great. You might spend a bunch of money upgrading your 870 only to find out a auto would work better for you. Optics on rifle is another way to spend money 2 or 3 times shoot a match or several matches look around talk other people check their equipment. 99.9% of the shooters I have encounter at matches are more than willing to help a new guy out .

  5. I know you said 9mm, but if you can stand a .40 the bushing barrel Eagle .40 cal can do USPSA limited major and IDPA the .40 can be loaded down for IDPA minor loads and in USPSA you arent handicaped by shooting minor PF. You say you are going to shoot factory ammo as many did before becoming addicted to either or both of these sports then you figure out the benefits of reloading and 9mm is going to be cheaper to reload. I have a Custom Edge type .40 and bought the Eagle .40 bushing barrel thinking IDPA and a backup Limited USPSA gun and found USPSA is what I enjoy never shoot IDPA so now I have backup Eagle limited gun that I rarely shoot. Easy to make wrong purchases if possible find someone that has these handguns (as both are awesome) and shoot them before your purchase.

  6. To realise Pal Filler in plastic, I should invest around $ 30.000 for the mould.

In your opinion, how many plastic PF could be sold in USA?

If we are talking about great numbers, I could think about investing such an amount.

It would probably depend on the retail price in US dollars....in stead of mould could this not be made with a milling machine (CNC)? Would love to have the specs.

  7. The Mark Otto load 2 is a awesome setup with very little practice (just getting used to flipping shotgun up on my shoulder) 6 seconds strong hand reload 8 shells and sometimes 5 seconds no way I could do this from my caddies. Mark is a great guy to do business with and he stands behind his products..

  8. There is a set screw on the main shaft once you get the right tension on the cap head on the shell plate lower the handle and you will see a set screw on the left side I believe its 1/8" allen anyway snug that set screw against the cap head and it will lock it in place...remember to loosen it when you change the shell plate again before you try toloosen the top cap head on the shell plate.

  9. I tried Hornady steel match 75gr in my JP rifle after calling JP and getting being told they are great/fine and wouldnt hurt the rifle I found them to be accurate and pretty close to the same impact point as my PMC 55gr. but very dirty they gummed my rifle bolt up with only about 35 rounds Ive never had this problem with brass no matter how many rounds fired maybe its just my rifle as many seem to really like it.

    BE Thread on Steel Case

I understand the cost factor, steel vs. load your own, but please don't lump Hornady Steel Match into the same group as the "other" steel cased stuff.

Kelly Neal uses it. Check the thread Link.

Trapr Swonson says Hornady Steel Match is the ONLY steel approved for use by JP in his rifles. Again in thread link.

You don't gotta believe me but I have been running the stuff for two years in both 223 and 308 without ONE SINGLE issue.

As always your results may vary, but what you are hearing from me is factual not internet BS. Again this is with Hornady ammo.

  10. Now that you mention it they do seem to dull pretty fast seems like I like it dull better as I can use it when needed to draw my attention to the front sight for closer fast shots but I can focus on the top of my sight better and have noticed I can shoot more precise when I dont have that bright dot distacting me.

  11. Anybody ever shot a Texas star prone with a handgun with 2 barrels stacked in the center as no shoots approx 15yards out, get up and shoot from between a barricade 6 poppers 3 bowling pins and 4 Idpa targets?....we did Yesterday at 3 gun after shooting a Texas star in this position shooting one freestyle with nothing in front will be a blessing in the future. One of the hardest stages Ive ever shot and it wasnt the hardest stage...man I loved it. Hats off to the match designer/director Bill Eskew for a awesome match at Belton 3 gun.
