  1. I would have recommended the SiCo Omega but I just got mine stuck on 2 of my rifles for the last damn time. The Omega might be my favorite can ever if the ASR wasn't so damn finnicky about either getting stuck or shooting off. It's the best tone and least recoil in any suppressor I've shot. Phenomenal design minus the damn ASR.

Unfortunate to spend the time and money required for a suppressor then have this issue. All I can offer to the OP is that my experience for the last 5 years with my Omega has been everything I had hoped for and NO issues. When I chose the Omega I was looking for basically the same features as the OP and it has covered all the bases with the exception of running it on a short barreled pistol because my pistol is only a 7". It has worked great on some of my other guns from multiple barrel length .556's up to a 300win mag. I use it in multiple configurations with & w/o the brake, with just the flat cap, direct thread or using the the ASR mounts, all attachment methods/combo's have been up to my expectations with no regrets.

  2. Started with a Nova, now run a SN.

Most desirable difference for me was the ability to adjust cant and drop of the stock. Other than that both received: mag cutoff removal, front stock cut/modified for easier loading and to eliminate possible binding, removed textured lines from bolt release lever and rounded the ends, action arms and bolt surfaces smoothed and diamond honed, forcing cone lengthened, added mercury reducer, loading port mods, stippled stocks, limbsaver recoil pad and added flip up sights for slugs.

I've seen some have the action arms shortened for faster cycling but I've also witnessed those same action arms break in pieces during a match...

  3. I was looking at having a set of shooting glasses made for the same reasons as the OP. As an experiment, l located some of the "stick on" corrective lenses to move around on my Rudy's to find the best location before having a new set made. The stick-ones have worked out so well that I left them in place and passed on having new ones made.

  4. To the OP,

Sorry I don't know the exact weight of the barrel other than it is a much smaller diameter than their "heavy" barreled model. As far as zero shift, my longest string of fire has only been 20 rounds at a time and there was no noticeable shift in the POI. Also my intentions were to cut and thread down to 18" but the barrel shot so well that I decided not to chance compromising that so I only threaded the barrel at 20" and haven't looked back. No experience with mag problems you referred to but my mags are only I the 300-400 round range.

  5. Replaced my FAL with the GII lightweight Hunter model for HM.

Upgrades: Threaded barrel for a brake, an adjustable gas block, added Nordic hand guard that was a direct replacement using factory barrel nut, dropped in an AR gold trigger and added an ACE stock with a grind to fit Limbsaver recoil pad to match my T/O division rifle configuration.

Gun is very accurate, fun to shoot and it just flat runs!

  6. Went through all the promotions and delays in production/QC and bought a Gen 1 only to discover it didn't quite live up to the hype. Now we found out that the " new and improved " solutions can't be retrofit to the originals, guess I should have known better than to buy something made in china no matter who's brand name is on it...

  7. Good luck with syrac customer service... I purchased a Gen I AGB from them after less than 500 rounds the adjustment mechanism locked up and they would not respond to multiple attempts (email and voicemail) to contact them for repair/replacement.

  8. Smooth & polish action arms, contact points on bolt, inside forearm, remove/defeat mag cut-off button, replace factory recoil pad, shorten forearm and bevel to allow reloads w/o hitting the back end of it, smooth/round serrations from bolt release. Practice, practice, practice.

  9. I had the same questions last fall and decided on the DPMS GII Hunter as mentioned in earlier posts. Added a few go fast parts, adj gas block, AR gold trigger, 15" handguard etc. I was going to cut/crown the barrel down to 18" but it shot so well I just threaded and added a brake instead and the thing just runs and runs.

  10. Decided to purchase the GII LW Hunter vs recon with the intention of cutting/threading barrel. After putting 100+ rounds through it I decided to just thread the 20" length to keep the factory crown because it shot so well. Don't regret the decision at all and if I don't like it I can always shorten it, gun shoots smooth and with reduced weight handles fast. I changed out the hand guard with a direct replacement on the factory barrel nut using a Nordic XL, added adj gas block, ACE stock with a fitted Limbsaver pad, AR Gold trigger and topped it off with the new Burris AR-1x optic. I've only shot it in 4 matches and 1/2 doz practice sessions but the thing just runs!!!

  11. Midway has a 3 gun bag that holds my a5 with a 12 round tube....not the drag bag either, that thing is crap for 3 gun.

What am I missing, been using a Midway Drag Bag for years? Easy access, decent bump protection, keeps the dust out if I chose to keep guns cased during a match, carry options between house or motel room, etc.
