  1. My reloading set-up is actually my uncle's. RCBS for rifle, Dillon for handgun, MEC for shotgun. About every accessory that I know of; tumbler, bench-mount primer, electric and manual trimmers, powder trickler, and more. I'm not sure what the brand of bullets are that he has, but they are what I call the Black Talon type. I was mainly wanting to know what kind of bullets to order. Looks like I need to check on Montana Gold, Zero, and Precision Delta. What powder would be good to start with? Thanks for the help, Mitch
  2. I am just trying to get started, and I have more questions than I can manage. First one is: What kind of ammo should I use? I have a Ruger P95 (9mm) and have been shooting UMC 115gr FMJ's, but I can't seem to find any locally. I can reload, but all the bullets I have right now are defense type, i.e. hollow points. Is the FMJ a good choice to shoot at steel? Would I be better off buying a 40, which I can find ammo for, or staying with the 9? Thanks for your help, Mitch
  3. Hi, everyone! I am new here, and this is my first post on the forum. I am looking to get into practical pistol and 3-gun shooting. My step-son loves shooting as much as I do, and I figure this will be the best bonding I can think of. I've found diagrams for the stages in practical pistol; i.e. outer limits, five to go, etc. If my calculations are correct, I can build all I need (5-18X24, 5-12", and 4-10") from one 4' by 8' piece of sheet metal. For a pistol, is 1/4" adequate? My guy is saying $250 for 1/4 or $375 for 3/8. I will just have to shoot one stage at a time and move stands between stages. If my 'ciphering is correct, I can also make three pepper poppers at 37" tall and 10" diameter "chest" for shotgun shooting. I am looking for an AR and a good semi-auto shotgun. Any suggestions? Thanks for all your advice and help. I really appreciate it. MM81 Mitch
