  1. Take a look at indentation on the right side of your mag, where the mag catch holds onto. There is probably a bur on the BOTTOM of the indentation that's hanging up when you try to dump the mag. Carefully shave the bur off with a sharp knife and that should fix the problem. The bur is formed by slamming the mag in repeatedly, and is normal. Be careful not to touch the TOP portion of the indentation, as thats the part that holds the mag in place in conjunction with the mag catch.

  2. That really is a huge variation. I agree with the above posts and would like to add this; I've seen variations in COL when loading with my 550 if I do not have all stations full at the time. Usually that would only occur at the end of the loading session or when I'm toying with the dies and/or powder charge. Now I make sure that there's a case in each station at all times to avoid that minor deviation. Dave's reply probably nailed it though, watch out for differences in bullet shape (profile), it will change the COL due to where the bullet contacts the die. (sorry for the redundancy)

  3. Who came up with the "thumb cocking is now allowed" rule anyway? Sheesh. It's like a Union arguing for better coffee cup lids for it's workers or something. Why was it an issue? I don't remember it even being on the list of proposed changes. I agree that it shouldn't be part of 'our' manual of arms as IPSC shooters. Am I worried about? Nah, "THEY" made the rules, we shoot by em. Lets shoot. Ron, you're killing me....that's funny stuff. :D

  4. No matter what equipment we choose to compete with, we all still have our own crosses to bear. I wish my ONLY disadvantage was that "a Glock is tougher to reload than brandX" and if my only advantage over the competition was "I can thumb cock my pistol before the first shot " then It's not looking too good for me.

Hopefully this whole changing of the rules thing will settle in soon and we can all get down to business. Now I've got to find myself a new holster. Because, I must shamefully admit, the only reason I shot as well as I did last year (however good that was?) was because of my Ky Tac holster. I'm glad it's going to be illegal soon, now I'll be able to sleep at night. :P

I'd like to also take this time to wish you all a happy new shooting year.

    Regards,

    Todd

  5. Not to sound like a copy cat, but my load is the same as Flex's: 3.5 gr Titegroup, 1.135" col, 180jhp= about a 130pf.

I ran out of TG so I'm currently using up some Universal Clays I had laying around: 4.1 gr Univ., 1.135" col, 180jhp= about a 130pf. BTW, I'm shooting combat tupperware (G22)

  6. Skipperrrrrrrrr!

I was just thinking about that new gun of yours and wondering when you'd be getting it. I'll come over and help you post a pic for all to oogle over.

The most consecutive High Law National Titles.....You da man! Hey, If Lady is a Catagory and Law is a Catagory as well, then why didn't you make the cover?

  7. In reference to the 180, look closely at the PVC shooting box. The front edge of the box is the 180. Draw a line extending off of the box and then draw a line extending from Rob's muzzle. It looks to me that he's got about 30 degrees or so to play with before he gets to the 180. Kinda unsettling looking down that muzzle though, isn't it? :P

  8. Sterling,

I think that getting the point series more attention/involvement is a great idea. Contingency prizes would be nice, no doubt. Is there any way we could start to get outside involvement? I mean from non shooting type companies. I was hoping the TV deal announced last year was going to help, but so far it's drawn a goose egg. I looked up the schedule too, and the 2003 FGN show is set to make a big debut on OLN just after midnight (12:30am) on 2/24. It looks like the format is set already for this year, so we have a little time to come up with something for next year. Hopefully there will be more involvement this year, I was kinda disappointed in the lack of participation last year. Thanks for the props dude, congrats to you too, good job.

    Regards

  9. Wow guys,

I had no idea there was so much dissension. Things are pretty good in my little corner of the USPSA world (mid-atlantic region of the country i.e. Area6, 7, & 8). All divisions are embraced, and that is usually reflected in the excellent course design. Area 8 has some great club matches!

I think the new rule covers stages that require you to load the gun after the buzzer. Technically, under the "first shot must be double action" rule, if you had to load and charge after the buzzer, you were in violation, right?

  10. I do believe that the Berreta 92 mag catch is reversible, and if so that's a viable option. a good friend of mine is a lefty and has the absoute fastest reloads. I would recommend against teaching to use the left hand to release the mag though, for reasons that I won't go into. Rotating the grip so as to be able to reach the button is the way to go. With some practice, it's easily mastered. But.... it all comes down to what works for her. BTW, not to sound patronizing or anything but, It's always nice to see more female shooters out on the range, way to go! :D

  11. Flex,

You are correct, that's the the holster and the "speed cut" in the front was the "problem". I agree with you about lists too, but if we do go with a list, it should be a list of prohibited and or mandatory characteristics (i.e. must hold grip of pistol no lower than top of belt, or must not not be adjustable for cant). BTW, props to the person that said "...I know a race holster when I see it", that was funny. :P

    Regards,

    Turtle

  12. In a way, the classification system is what you want it to be. If you love to be on the range, shooting a match, with other people who love to be on the range, then the classification system helps to promote competition. That usually serves to help us better ourselves as shooters. If shooters were always 'losing' to the top guys, they might get too discouraged. It's not perfect but it serves its purpose (several, actually). God, I love this sport..... :D

  13. I used a Ky-Tac2 at the 2003 FG Nationals and got challenged on it. The RM & MD came a lookin for me, asking to look at my gear. I guess some one didn't approve and wanted me checked out. Troy and Arnie both agreed that it was not a race holster, and let me go about my business. Meanwhile people were using dropped & offset holsters (which IMO offered more of an advantage) that went unchallenged. The rules are vague but who cares? It's all about the shooting anyway. We can suggest improvements, but until the rules are changed, pick some equipment that you believe is legal, shoot, and have fun. As was stated earlier, if it's got gadgets and adjusters, it's probably not legal for USPSA Production. Let's not even mention placement of said gear.... :o
