  1. so you have a $400 scope sitting in a $200 mount on a $1,500 rifle and you don't want to spend the $60 on a switch view? J/K I like it! I just saw on FB where one of my friends broke his switch view throwing his rifle in a dump barrel this would be something to keep in your bag of tricks.

Just think, you could have 5 spares for less the $6! :)

Just kind of a priority thing for me. Mgm is cool and all but for the same price as two switch views, I could have three 5" targets and stands shipped to me. I just ordered six targets and stands from them from them and was looking to scrimp on something else to make up for that hit.

I like that kinda of thinking. A cool expensive switch view doesn't make you a better shooter, but 3 targets definitely will. I use the Breakaway Coasters on my scope.

  2. I might sell my Daniel defense 300 blk rifle and put that money towards a nicer rifle that I can compete with. If I need heavy I have a nice 700 sps in .308. I may miss the nice sound the dd makes when a can is on it. My 700 is threaded as well so I can still get some use out of it.

My 300 only has had about 5 or 6 mags run through it so I probably won't cry too much.

My guess is that if I take that extra cash and buy a loaded jp in 5.56 I won't regret it. I like the 300 cartridge but I can't afford to run it in matches nor should I it seams.

It's kind of funny now looking back on my idpa days thinking that was expensive.

    Thanks for the help!

Look at Barnes Precision Machine. www.barnesprecisionmachine.com Andrew makes a great rifle and the customer service is top notch. I shoot his Tactical Match Rifle. I have approx 9500 rds through it and stills shoots sub MOA.

  3. Well I actually got a call from one of the Match Directors from 3GN after submitting comments on their website. We talked for about 10 minutes and I express my views about how I thought it was unfair that the people that stuck with it do not get to keep their slots. He stated he understood my concerns but 3GN nation felt this was the best policy. He advised me that they were going to opening the registration again soon and to keep a watch out. He also stated that only about 100 people were able to sign up for a match.

Granted they are still going with the redo but I give props to 3GN for actually calling individuals that submitted concerns and trying to address them with a personal conversation rather then a blanket email.

+1 for 3GN on that. I will be waiting to sign up again, must companies wouldn't have made phone calls.

Since establishing this thread I have offered my email and phone to ALL. That offer still stands. Please use it if you have a question or concern. I will take the time to hopeful get you an answer.

As for the train wreck on the match registration, I apologize and take responsibility...no one is more frustrated and upset about it than I am...but I am dedicated to making this work both in fairness and in logistics. Any one that knows me and or has participated in ANY event that I am part of can be attest they are treated fair and repectful.

I am passionate about this sport and see all the wonderful things it offers to its participates...which certainly out weighs the "hassles". So be assured that at this moment 3Gunnation is working this problem...

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with your concerns...it does mean a lot to me and to 3GN, we are just trying to grow this game!

    Guys

I have been shooting Charles tarheel matches and I can tell you that Charles is for making great matches for the shooters. He will do everything he can to make the regionals great matches that everyone will talk about after they are over. Everyone needs to hang on and wait until this is corrected and the regionals will be worth the wait.

  4. Hello. So, I've decided to take the plunge and give 3-gun a try. None of the shotguns I have at the moment are really suited for it so I've been reading every thing I can find trying to make a good decision the first time. So far I've looked at a Mossberg 930 JM, Remington Versamax and of course Benelli. I doubt my budget will allow for a M2 3G so it's pretty much not an option. My problem is, I don't know anyone that has one of the Remington's or Mossberg's that I can try so I'm hoping for some guidance. Any input would be greatly appreciated and I'm open for other suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Jim

p.s. my wife is also interested in giving it a try so she'll be using it too.

Welcome to 3 Gunnin' ! If you are not in too much of a hurry, go to a couple 3 gun matches and get a feel for what you would like. It's a big investment to make, then realize it wasn't what you really wanted. I run a 930 JM and have a great results with it. Some folks have not. I have also ran a Benelli M1, it was picking about what you fed it. A lot of the folks I shoot with will let you try their guns out, hopefully they are the same in your area, and I would imagine they are. I like the Mossberg and are inexpensive, but right now they are difficult to find. I have heard the Versamax is a great shotty, but have not tried one. It's great that your wife is involved as well. I shoot with a husband and wife, in NC and they have a great time together, plus it's easier to talk them into cool gear. :goof: You can check out Dana and Damon on www.3gnclubtv.com.

  5. Congrats. Feels good when the turd becomes reliable and fun to shoot.

    *** ain't that the truth!

In fact, when you're forced to put that much time & effort into something that you figure is a "lost cause" it feels even mo' betta!!!

...& I have to admit, it is fun to shoot.

Great news JB. Go out there and show those high drag Benelli, Versa and SLP shooters what the Mossy and gun driver can do bro!
  6. say, where can I get a "low drag" mag follower?

    Nordic is out.

I polished my factory follower with a Dremmel and it works fine. Look at Brownell's for the GG&G, they may have them. Have heard good things about them.

*** did that & ordered one.

    Thanks.

You're welcome. I hope you get that JM up and running! Look out Versa's and Bennelli, oh and SLP's too!
  7. "Robbie" - if I could get it running, I'd be proud to use it & beat the Versa & Bennelli crowd!

"donnyglock" - I love to whine! It allows my feminine side to shine thru!! ...& it feels so good!!!

I was busting on the Versa and Bennelli shooters not you bro! I understand the frustration of paying good money for something and it doesn't do what it's suppose to do. You may want to check with guys at Maverick Arms in TX. They are some good dudes there.

  8. I used to shoot a Bennelli M-1, then came the JM and I bought one. The M-1 was very picky about what you fed it, but the JM will eat just about anything you feed it and runs like a champ. I guess if you shoot a JM your not as "cool" as the high speed low drag Versa and Bennelli shooters, but the steel and clay fall just as fast. :P

  9. How is the JM working for you any problems?

I have not had any trouble with my JM until my last match. The ejector fell out. However, I called Mossberg CS and ask them to send me the part. They said it had to be put in by a machine (?) and to send the barrel to Maverick Arms in TX and they would replace the barrel. I FEDEXed it the next day and am just waiting for them to send a new one. Joseph at Maverick Arms is on top of it. Hopefullly I will get it back soon. Other than that, people poke fun of me shooting a Mossberg and I say when I pull the trigger it goes "boom, boom, boom" I like it. Just wished the part had not fell out right after I said that.

  10. Robbie, I think we might shoot the same match. Tarheel? What you need to order is the "+8 tube only" from Nordic Components. Your end cap and coupler nut with work with the new tube. Funny I'm about to order the same thing for my 22 JM pro. Good Luck.

ETA: it does come with a new spring too.

Yep TH3G! Thanks for the info. I usually shoot on Squad 6. Not many Mossbergs there. Had my ejector come out last match on Stage 4. Waiting on new barrel now, Mossberg said they would send me another.

  11. JM's have Nordic tubes/or/Nordic style tubes.... Just order the +8 and with the xxl extention you can get 12/13/14 in her. (get a new spring also). Your nut will work..... Be mindful that you'll stick out a bit... I used the +6 & xxl extention for a easy 10 in the tube (22" gun).

Mike, my JM aready has a +8 tube so just get the xxl extenstion. Is that correct?

  12. The local match I normaly shoot in, has changed the rules regarding 8+1 shotguns. You can now start with 8+1 then after the buzzer load as many as it will hold. Was looking on Nordic Components website and the tubes they show, have threads on both ends. I did not see a coupler to attach the extension to the current magazine tube. Are there any suggestions?

  13. I dont think he mag tube is stainless, but ill check the next time its apart. The poston could be but is cromed. The mag tube, if coated, seems like it wouldn't last long as I need to use fine steel wool with solvent to fully remove the carbon deposits after 200 rounds. I'm sure the gun will run well for a very long time. I love my JM Pro 22" , I was lucky to find one.

I think the Mag Tube on mine is aluminum.
