  1. Holy cabcakes it friggin worked! Ive already got a FFL lined up willing to make the transfere without going through the added bs/fees that the local shops want me to pay. He only charges $15 for the transfere and $7.50 for the background. These forums are amazing! Now, with minimal bs fees, I'm going to have a gun I can start to lean and compete with. Thanks for the help and good shooting guys.
  2. Thanks for that. I'm also going to talk to some of the RO's at the range as well as some of the guys with machine guns that I'm pretty sure have the license.
  3. Ok here's my situation. I have a friend wanting to sell me a gun that I can compete with. All the local gun stores have told me he has to bring it to a FFL near him, have him transfere to them, then they ship to an FFL near me so I can buy it. Now I know the law and you dont have to ship VIA FFL from the point of origin. My question is is there anyone in the Ogden/SLC area that has a FFL that would be willing to accept the gun from a party that does not have a FFL? If anyone out there who has a FFL in my area would be willing to help me on this it would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Wait till you see me shoot before you get too glad.
  5. Thanks Steve and smokshwn! Now I have the dates of some upcoming matches. Hopefully I'll be able to have my new gun before the match and get in a good deal of practice. Thanks again guys!
  6. Hello everyone! My name is Mike and Ive just sparked an interrest in sport shooting matches. It all started with the purchase of a Sig Sauer "Mosquitto". That was soon followed (literally the next day) by the purchase of a Ruger MK III Target. I modded the MK III before ever taking it out to shoot by installing Cocobola (sp?) hand grips and adding a holo red dot sight by Bushnell (I mean it came with a rail so why not). Next I figured why not just go out and buy a 1911...so I did. It's a Springfield 1911 GI .45 which I'm pretty happy with except the tail on the grip safety could stand to be a little longer. My next purchase will be a Para PXT Hi Cap thats been modded out to be a very good 'limited/limited10' gun. The person I'm getting this thing from is a member on here as well as a very knowledgable shooter. He's the one who really lit a fire under me and got me wanting to get into some pistol matches (USPSA if memory serves). Due to one of his post's on this site I now have all the pertinent info on where to go and at what time and dates the matches are held. So if there's anyone in the Ogden/SLC area who would like to teach a noobie some tips before his first match feel free to PM me and we'll go shooting sometime. I have until the first Sat of next month to learn and practice as much as I can. Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and I look foward to shooting with some of you sometime down the road. -Mike
