  1. In my case is was typically pushing the bullet too hard. Sometimes the barrel and bullet just don't like each other. One of my shooting buddies gun just wouldn't shoot masterblaster 180's. My gun had no problem with them.

Sometimes there is just a disturbance in the Force

He did say he had a heavy crimp (sounds personal)

The targets were straight up and he was shoooting square to them.

    I'll pass this info along

    Thanks

Too much crimp has caused keyholing for me too.

  2. I never set a bullet on the case without "seeing" the powder, whether it's my 550 or 1050! And I do not allow distractions.

EXACTLY! I have a "reflector" light that I shine on my 650, set to "cast a shadow" about where the powder should be in the case. Give me a good visual indication that everything is ok. It's a little slower, but being sure is better than faster

  3. I'm heading down to Atlanta a few weekends from now and I was wondering if there is a good spot to pick up some powder and primers from. Does anyone know of a good location?

On the N.E. side of Atlanta (Gwinnett County) there's David's Gun Room (Norcross / Duluth area) and Bullseye in Lawrenceville.

Prices at David's are a little high, but the selection is decent and most of the guys there actually reload and use the stuff.

Prices at Bullseye are better but the selection is a little more limited.

Thanks, I'll give them a try.

One bonus if you go to Bullseye in Lawrenceville, is that we have a Match there every Wednesday @ 6:00! see gpsl.org for details

  4. I can't tell you who is the best but I can tell you that I have no stomach for those who try and jazz it up. It should be sung exactly how it was written. It is not a piece of performance art, it is our countries national anthem and deserves to be show the respect that it is entitled to. I don't care if the person singing it can't carry a tune as long as it is sung with emotion and reverence the rest is just gravy.

    +1000

One of my "hot buttons" is when people try to "make it their own", buy going all around a note. POP songs can be your own, but the National Anthem is OUR own and should be sung properly. So my favorite is anyone who shows proper respect for it!!!

  5. Carl, unless you have forming tools and abilities you will have to use a percussive repair technique. I understand your hesitation in doing so. Be aware that as you move the tube in one direction it will probably move in other directions as well, go slow, pay attention and check it often.
Howard, I noticed that that newer SV mag tubes seems to be thicker than the older ones. Is that a correct observation? Did SV change the thickness? Because I have heard complaints about the SV tubes cracking from some of my friends.

    Thanks guys..

I Spoke to SVI yesterday, and asked if they had heard of these problems. They had not. HOWEVER they did acknowledge that the metal was thicker than previously used, and that the plastic Grips themselves vary greatly. The very reason that are going to an aluminum grip.

They did suggest "tweaking" the mag in a vice. As HSMITH pointed out, I am somewhat reluctant to try that..

I had a thought to try what I have done before on Glocks. Wrap the mags in a sheet of paper, heat the inside of the grip with a hair dryer, to get them warm (not HOT). and insert the mag, let everything cool.

Has anyone else tried this trick and did it work for you? I see perils there as well :(

  6. If it takes more than a very minor press the top taper section of the mag will need to be adjusted.

Any tips on a way to do that? I've "marked" a tube with Black and I can see where it's rubbing. I just did not want to go "banging" away on a $100 tube.

    Thanks,

    Carl

  7. Theresa was a fool... she just wouldn't let him have controlling interest. There's no doubt in my mind that Dale would have wanted him to having the controlling interest and would have given it to him in time. He just didn't want to give it to him before he was ready. Stepping up after his dad was killed, and the way he handled the pressure, said it was time for him to take his place at the head of the table.

Now there is no Dale at DEI... way to go. I'm sure that's what Dale would have wanted eh? If I had shares in DEI I would have sold them the day Jr. left.

Precisely what I think... I forgot who said it, but it was something to the effect that all DEI will have left is a museum

  8. or my favorite: termination due to a round of ammo found in the vehicle that was inadvertently dropped under the seat during the hunting trip the weekend before.

Where did they work that it was OK to search the car? That is illegal in most places without consent, probably criminal even.

Concealed is concealed if it is legal, I could care less what they post.

One way they get around it is that since Georgia is a "Right to Work State", they ask to search you vehicle. If you refuse, they terminate your right to work there..

Kinda walking the line, but the other way is that since you are on their property they have a right to search your vehicle, again if you refuse, you are terminated.

I know Georgia Carry is working to overturn those provisions, Let's hope we can.

  9. John,

I am so sorry. I am not eloquent enough to express how much. As so many here have said Debi was so loved and valued to all of us. We share your grief. If there is anything we can do for you, let us know.

  10. Glad to see I'm not the only one out here that remembers sub .50 gas prices. :P

I remember them...but my grandmother was buying! :goof:

Oh great :) I remember .25 gas when I first started driving! Now I DO feel old! :)

  11. Put a U-die in the press or get a Case Pro. Both get low enough. The Case Pro is a ton more expensive, but it will take care of rim burrs and things like that as well that no die in a press can.

HSMITH, could you please explain what a Case Pro is.... I have never heard of one???

Don't mean to butt in, but, The Casepro website is here:

    http://www.casepro.net/

There are a lot of threads here that discuss the casepro, you might find more information, or what you are looking for, doing a search on casepro.

  12. One problem I had was, I did not belled the case mouth enough, and the bullet "canted" slightly as it was seated. Now, with the proper bell, AND a Redding Seating die, I have very few rejects from the same case gauge. No other changes to the setup, all other dies are Dillon.

    Carl

  13. Yep. I'm glad it happened. :)

Received a letter from the IRS today telling me I made an error, with a $922 check attached.

MAN!!!!! Play the Lottery!!!! Odds of the IRS doing that have GOT to be astronomical!!! :)
