Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hey guys, i know that "best" is a pretty loaded adjective... what I mean is best for me. I am thinking about putting a light rail on my 1911, and then using a weapon light on the gun. So, If I dont want to spend more than 150 bucks, what is the best one out there? I want it to be water proof, and reliable as well as have great light output. Battery life is a plus also. It needs to be able to fit in a holster still... So, any suggestions? Thanks for the help!
  2. are you talking about this right here? http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=27001/Product/1911_AUTO_TACTICAL_LIGHT_RAIL have any pics of someone that has done this? thanks
  3. Do you know if a rail can be machined onto the front of the frame? thanks
  4. Well, I've got a few of those. I agree with you. But I want a gun that can be on my hip for back up... I was thinking a thigh holster would be the most maneuverable... no?
  5. Hey, well... I do appreciate what I have. I love this gun so far! I just dont know much about it or 1911 type guns for that matter. I've always wanted a 1911 type gun and now I have one... but I got it on trade and I didnt study up a ton before I got it... So now im trying to learn. I was going to buy a full size hand gun because I dont have one... I only have a Glock 27. I wanted one for the these shoots me and a friend compete in, and for SHTF. I think a fullsize just handles better in my hand... and I love how this thing shoots. I'm just not sure if I should keep it and put some night sights on it, or sell it and buy something else with a rail and night sights, that is still an accurate shooter for the events we do.
  6. Hey guys, im newer here so pleade go easy on me... Im trying to learn. Ok, so I feel kind of in the dark with my STI... I just got it in on trade and I love this thing so far, but i dont know a thing about it and I dont know where to start. I dont even know if I want to keep it or not... Should I? I know its a "2011" or double stack... so is it a lot different than a regular 1911? do other 1911 parts work? So far, It shoots wonderful, it feels great in my hand, and I just love this trigger it has. I've never grouped so good with a pistol in my life! But, I want to change the sights up on the gun for maybe some night sights/combat sights? But I still want to be able to be very accurate with it. I want to make it more combat friendly... more end of the world/SHTF adaptable... what are some things I can do to make it better? Is this gun even good for that? what are some mods for the gun? What kind of secure holsters can I get? I think I want a thigh holster... would the blackhawk serpa work? I also want to know how to get mags for it... should I only get STI mags? is that my only option? Thanks for the help, and if there is a writeup or something more I can read to educate myself that would be great. thanks Also, I'm still not completely sold on the gun... I do like it ALOT but, I was considering selling it... to get the look that I want... and maybe have some money left over... but I really like the idea that it is a 1911 style pistol and can hold 16 rounds in a magazine. I like the ability to have a lot of rounds... I like that its a .40 because my glock is a 40 and its cheaper to shoot than 45, plus i have more rounds in the mag. Because they dont make this thing anymore, is this a kind of gun that I shouldnt modify? or does it not really matter? Sorry that I have so many questions... I just dont know where to start or even if I should keep it. Here is a picture of it: Thanks!!!
