  1. Hello. Does anyone know of a kit to get rid of the re-bounding hammer on the Model 1892?
  2. Is it better to use brass cases or nickel cases? I'm guessing after while nickel starts to flake off. Thanks for your help.
  3. Finally got to shoot an open gun today. It was an STI .38 Super Comp. Talk about a good time, WOW I barley noticed any recoil while shooting the gun.I'm hooked now! I want to find a decent gun and get to practing asap. Wish I would have shot one sooner.
  4. Great vid. Thats a loud .22
  5. I'm curious when people get there mags tuned, they get them numbered to. What is the reasoning for this? Thanks, Mike
  6. Welcome! I'm new to too. This is a fantastic forum
  7. Poppers are supposed to be calibrated with a 120 power factor 9mm load, so if you had trouble, you probably hit them too low. Yeah, my bad on that, I think I was using Winchester Whitebox factory loads that day. It was my first time and very nervous with all the people watching. I should have handloaded WWB factory loads are about 135 power factor. They shouldn't have any problem knocking down a properly calibrated popper. My handloads aren't even that powerful, although they do use heavier bullets than most factory ammo. Ah, right on
  8. That be a slide racker and its mounted to the right because you have to take if off to clean the gun. When they are put on with a set screw they are always falling off. Detent ball is best. I don't use one, its good on stages with an unloaded start but the rest of the time its dead weight and snags on your clothing. This does show you how the GM value plumets like a rock when used, that is a $1500 hit after only 5K which is maybe 6 months of shooting. In 9x21 I doubt it breaks 2K. Put one of these in it http://www.1911store.com/stitruborbarrelcomp-withthundercompsxstylecomp.aspx (requires gunsmith installation) and it will be a good shooting GM. (depends on slide to frame fit being acceptable and gun not having been modified by an idiot). There are always risks in buying a used gun without inspection. Thanks

  10. Thanks for all the info. I going to try an open gun this weekend hopefully. I can imagine they feel and recoil different. I'm curious about fast follow up shots with a red dot, trying to get back on target fast. I'll have to look at a ghost and CR speed holster to. A Trubor is looking like the direction to go and having it tuned.
  11. In that pic on gunbroker, Whats is that thing on the back of the slde? Some kind of slde racker?
  12. I have considered using my Glock 35. I have seen a few pics online of ones that people have tricked out. Who tricks out Glocks for open? I have shot a few productions with my 34 and I had a little trouble with the poppers not falling down.
  13. Thank you, thank you. Wealth of information everyday
  14. I'm sure I will go the texture route on the grip. The ice magwell looks nice and now that you mentioned it. I have seen those on guns before. Are people running a lot of different loads for .38 Super?
  15. Whats the difference with SVI? There website doesn't say a lot.
  16. The GM is a decent gun, but for that price you can get a full custom gun built...and full custom will be a much better gun. I'd suggest considering a standard TruBor from one of the vendors that will do a reliability tuning (like the Brazos High Performance package, or the Dawson Super Tuned) since the GM is more a cosmetic refinement of the normal TB. There are also some pretty nice Open guns going up in the classifieds now, so that may be an option as well. One or two I've been very close to buying even though I don't need another backup gun....the deals have been that good. R, I going to call Dawson tomorrow and ask about there package. Brazo high performance package sounds nice. What othere things need to be changed out? Grip, magwell? I heard ghost holster is the way to go. What do you guys think? CR versa mag holder 3 and 2 170mm and 3 140mm mags to get started I also heard.
  17. Noise or recoil shouldn't be a factor for me I hope. I have been shooting my LAR Grizzly .45 Win Mag and .50AE for a few years. Does the .38 Super have a sharp recoil? I have heard they were loud. I do like the way the GM looks, Blue is my favorite color To bad guns weren't like cars, you could try before you buy I'll check out the Dawson and Brazos packages. What are the biggest concerns of getting an open gun to shoot and feed correctly? Thanks for all your help! Mike
  18. I have shot the production class a few times before with my Glock 35. I will go to the matches this year and talk to some Open shooters and check there guns out. Production Division Lol, I did it again opps How is the STI GM gun?

  20. Thank you. I'm realizing that
  21. I'm interested in getting started in open class. What is a good open class starter gun? Is it better to buy a new or used gun? Is .38 SC the way to go? What other gear besides bag, mags, holster and belt are needed? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
