  1. Really, Henning. I contacted Techwear to see if they'ld make me a Tanfoglio shirt. They want a release from the manufacturer allowing them to use the name and logo and I haven't followed up yet. It's just that at matches people are always aking me, "hey, what's that gun you're shooting?" Besides, I'm just envious of the other guys with their Glock and STI shirts. I want my own!

  2. I like your opening sentence Nealio. I guess if it ain't broke.... Any thought on mag spring changes? I just got some of the new K9 mags with Henning's 140mm base pads and Gram's 11 coil springs. After I let the springs sit for a couple days I can load 23 rounds - cool! Is there a way to tell if the springs are getting "soft" or doesn't that really happen? As you might guess I'm somewhat new to this sport and my Match is my first handgun.

  3. Hi Guys:

I have Match 9mm with approx. 10K rounds through it. I was wondering if anyone has some sort of "maintenance" schedule for replacing things like springs or other parts instead of waiting for some kind of failure and then taking action. I use Henning's flat trigger, 13lb hammer spring and long firing pin. I'm going to the Va-Md section match in May and really don't want a mid stage crisis. I've collected a number of spare springs/parts figuring I might need something which gets lost when I'm doing a deep clean on the gun. So, Any thoughts or recommendations? I'm also wondering about the firing pin spring that came with a 8lb Wolff recoil spring I use for softer practice loads. It's really long compared to the factory spring. Has anyone used this spring or should we stick with the factory FP spring? Thanks for your ideas.

  4. I've been absent a while but did I just read tha Henning's coming out with a new mag release? This could be a real winner for guys like me who can't reach the stock release on account of a somewhat short thumb. I would love something on the order of the old Tanfo release that extended across the grip. One of the guys on this forum had one for sale earlier this year and I just missed getting it. Henning, keep us posted on this project. You'll probably get a lot of takers.

    Peace baby!

  5. Hi Guys. I also live in Ct and have been looking for a USPSA classifier match. I've never shot one and really need to get started. Anyone know of a club that maybe routinely hosts classifiers? Or maybe a list of clubs I can call to see if anything is going on? I've been all over the web trying to find something out but I'm just not having any luck. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  6. I'm trying to find the Extended mag catch that I have seen on some of the Tanfoglio's and P9's its the one with the 90 degree turn on it that extends across the grip panel. I have large hands but very short fingers , very difficult to drop mag and not reajust grip. I spent all night on the internet looking for this item. I almost bought a Springfield P9 on gunbroker that had one on it, I know I have seen pics with the tanfoglio wearing one I have a large frame limited in .40 Please Help. Im wondering if there is someone that has one and would part with it. IF not part with it could you let me know how well it works. Thanks

I've got one I'd be willing to sell. If your interested send me an email, I'll look for it next week and come up with a price.

    Hi Gik21c...

I would be interested in your mag release if you still have it. Let me know.

    Thanks...Frank

  7. I found a picture of what I'm looking for this one is on a springfield p9. If your considering building one I would love to have first dibs on it. Thanks for the quick reply.

Hi Nuke: I saw the exact same mag release on a Tanfoglio either on the Henning's shop section or in the other Tanfoglio area. The owner was showing pix of his gun and a number of viewers wanted to know where the heck he got the mag release. I tell ya, I have the same short thumb issue and would LOVE on of those babies. Henning, I think this would be a blockbuster of a sale item. I you guys get a lead on these or, Henning if you get them going let me know. I'll get in line for one.

    Happy Fourth!

  8. A few days ago Henning posted a mail address for parts or product questions. I've twice since then tried mailing <<questions@henningshop.com>> and my mail gets returned as undeliverable. Anyone else got an issue with this? Or, if you have a pipeline to Henning can you give him a heads up so he can get this fixed. I have a sear related question I'ld like to get answered before I place an order on his site.

  9. Henning...Congratulations on your latest endeavor. Henning's parts avail worldwide. Has a nice ring to it. Hey Help me out here. The E-address for jason( Questions@henningshop.com) isn;t valid. My mail is bouncing back to me. I lost my trigger reset screw while cleaning and need the size so I can get a temporary replacement. Can you help with that. No time to order one.. got a match to shoot this weekend.

    Thanks

    Frank DeLuca ;)

  10. A little bit of thread drift here:

I'm a big fan of the UpLula and own one. For me to effectively use it though, I need a table or bench to push against. (I have yet to perfect the technique of pushing against my chest. Maybe I'm being too wimpy because of the pain pushing against my sternum or ribs.) I think this is where the HKS magazine loader has the advantage: Table/bench not required.

Is there a trick to pushing against the chest? When people say "chest" do they really mean "stomach" (or "spare tire" in my case)?

And how would ladies use the UpLula without a table or bench?

I recommend the Uplula. It's solid construction and should last a good while. I push it against my "gut" if no table is handy.

Ladies could try a wall or any other solid surface - it doesn't need to be vertical to work properly. Best $30 investment I've made in a while.

    Regards, Frank

  11. I placed an order to the Henning shop on line and did not get a confirmation....tried to contact him by phone....no answer......tried to leave a voicemail, his voicemail account is full!! Does anyone know if he is still in business???? Hope he is ok and business is still good!

Henning is out of the country right now. He'll be back in touch 3/1 or thereabouts

  12. I am considering getting a EAA Witness Match in 9MM. It is SA only - what kind of trigger pull weight should I expect?

Also what does EAA consider to be a "longslide" as far as their conversion barrels are concerned??

What kind of optics mounts are available for the witness?

Mine came out of the box a bit over 5lbs on the trigger. With a lot of polishing of moving parts, Henning's 13ld hammer spring and x-long firing pin I'v got it to about 2 lbs 12oz. Pretty sweet.

  13. This discussion is great so I had to chime in. I just bought the Witness Match 9mm a few months ago which came with the one mag. Oddly, this mag had a "long" follower and no spacer. I probably shot that one mag about 500 rounds without a problem. I recently bought 4 more mags which came with the front spacer. I was concerned about this having read about the front spacer mag issues but I shot them a bit and they worked fine. Thought I was one of the lucky ones. Nyet!

Lately this has beeen the issue: with only 6 rounds loaded the last or next to last round will "jam" in the chamber with about 1/4" of brass showing. Gun will not go fully into battery. I cannot push the slide forward to fully chamber the round nor can I eject it unless I drop the mag first. And of course this has too be an intermittant issue. The same mags won't always have the problem. Sometimes the mag feeds ok through the last round and sometimes it doesn't. It's really making me nuts (moreso than I already am anyway). I'm not averse to buying new mags if you think it might solve my problem. I don't think it's an ammo isssue because I can put the "jammed" round back into a mad and it shoots. I use factory fmj,rn usually federal or remington and it happens with all ammo.

So, whatcha think? CZ mags? Pull the spacers off and replace followers with long ones? Anything anyone can contribute is gratefully appreciated. PS - Tanfoglian is right - This forum is the best place for tech support.

  14. After reading these ideas it's obvious that dri-firing is the way to practice when not on the range. The problem i had at first was that my trigger finger would feel like it was about to cramp up after 8 or 9 pulls on the Ruger security six. So, I took a suggstion from another member about snipping one or one & 1/2 coils off the main/hammer spring. WOW. What a difference. NOw I can practice at home like so many have suggested and not feel like my hand is going to fall off!

Thanks to all for the ideas.
