  1. I'm for every shot counts the same.

Adding Hit Factors doesn't do it.

If you want to normalize HF to stage round count divided by match round count I'd be cool with that.

As far as the reshuffling with new HHF? It doesn't matter to me.

If you get tied up in that while you are shooting the match you've already taken yourself out of where you need to be too win.

  2. Go sights like the Dawson give you a precise outline for traditional notch and post shooting for accuracy. The FO gives you an inset, easy to pick up point of reference for fast shooting. I think a brass bead might be okay for the fast stuff but not a good for accuracy shooting.

I don't see how a brass bead could be any worse than a FO for accuracy shooting.

Simply disregard the insert and start doing equal height equal light.

  3. I went to the Gen4 for all the reasons you mentioned.

I belive the Vickers mag release in USPSA production is of questionable legality since it's not an OEM part...

I did buy the OEM extended mag release for my Gen4.

One factor to think about is the change in trigger feel from Gen3 to Gen4. Gen3's are nicer pretty much no matter what you do.

But on that account I'm an "indian not the arrow" kind of guy. I just need a gun that fits.

If you have the cash I'd give it a try. If you don't, don't.

  4. I've been runing the 10-8 brass bead front with the U notch rear for about two years now.

I dig the pseudo ghost ring you can run at 10 yards and in on open targets.

I think it's a great carry option, but if your eyes are aging and need help it won't be as good as fiber.

What I really like is that it's an unchanging sight. I used to run fibers and they would break/discolor.

  5. I bought an SIRT pro model a while back and the take up laser (red) will not work. Upon looking at the manual, I only cannot figure out my problem because I cannot figure out how to remove slide assembly.manual says remove pins, but they won't budge. I don't want to break anything, do they. Have to be pressed out with a press, or a punch and hammer? Or am I doing something wrong? Picture shows an Allen wrench and the other pins push right out. I've put a considerable amount of pressure on pins and they won't move, does it matter from what side to drive them out?

It's like a Glock, I had to tap mine out the first time and they loosen up a bit. Tap from the left to push them out the right side just like a Glock.

  6. Sorry for the hijack but this thread seemed the most related.

I did pretty much everything here. http://www.tinymicros.com/wiki/NOOK_Simple_Touch_%28NST%29_Rooting_For_Practiscore

So I have ADW launcher but I can't change the desktop to a home made one I made for our club. It used to be the Nook 'N' out of desperation I changed it to the ADW splash which was the only option the wallpaper picker gave me. Now it seems I'm stuck with that (unless I use backup and restore... I hope)

Any one have any insight on where to put wallpapers, not screensavers?

  7. USPSA, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram logins will all be ways to establish accounts/identiy on PractiScore.com .

I really hope you are using OAuth [1] for FB, Twitter and Instagram. Shouldn't be too hard to make USPSA to be an OAuth host too.

    [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OAuth

I'm assuming Google account will work too? I know Google was doing something with OAuth but I'm no web developer so... can anyone clue me in?

  8. Sorry for the thread necromancy.

I too just bought the sirt, and it was working find till I adjusted the trigger break force and now it appears that the battery contact that contacts in front of the trigger has been bent. I bent it back but it keeps getting currled up for lack of a better description (maybe I can add pictures later).

Which end of the battery contact did you have issue with? Sounds like the battery side or trigger side?

  9. If you see the red laser while you're moving, you've just DQed. Not sure that I would train that way. Bad habbit.

    Shooting on the move?

8.5.1 Except when the competitor is actually aiming or shooting at targets,

all movement (see Appendix A3) must be accomplished with the fin-

gers visibly outside the trigger guard and the safety should be engaged.

The handgun must be pointed in a safe direction.

  10. I have been working my transitions really hard lately. I designed a bunch of these drills lately and have been enjoying doing them. I think this is an important way for me to shave time off on stages. I want to bring the sights to the next target and have them be aligned… always. If that isn’t happening I am working on it.

Dryfire is going about 2 hours a day lately.

Are you using the eyes closed draw and index drill out of BE's book?

  11. Cedar Falls has a pretty sweet gym. It's 14 laps to a mile, so it gets pretty boring though...

Both my neighbours have snowblowers, but it's a point of pride for my wife and I that we use a shovel and still get it done faster. That's mostly because my wife does it before I get home. But she's a point pride for me anyways ;)

  12. If your sights are not perfectly aligned, slowly adjust your hold (WITHOUT breaking your grip) and remember how it feels.

Why not adjust the equipment to point better with your grip?

Because real men shoot Production.

    With both eyes open

  13. colt canada wont even sell to civilians, not a single thing. we have to import everything from the states, our military guys cant even buy a copy of their duty rifle in semi-auto to practice with.

tell me again how they care about civilians?

Have you considered the possibility that there's a massive overabundance of bureaucratic hoops to jump through to sell guns in Canada?

It's pretty bad in California even, and we have the 2nd Amendment... I can't imagine how bad it would be in a country that still recognizes the Queen :roflol:

I probably wouldn't bother if I was in charge of Colt, either.

Nope, because we have had 3 new canadian gun manufacturers pop up this year, and they are all much smaller than colt. Clearly its not that hard.

Making it in Canada is likely a lot cheaper than shipping it to Canada. And making another factory just for Canadians might not pencil in to their plans very well...

  14. dlp40cal:

If the trouble you are having with the magazine release is the fact that it is either digging into your support hand or if you are accidentally releasing the magazine while firing the gun, may I recommend the Vickers Tactical magazine release? Shorter and more rounded and smooth than the over-extended stock G34 release and longer than the release on the other 9mm Glock pistols.

Fine for IDPA, but for USPSA Production the legality is questionable...

  15. I went with the tr24 because I got it used but never shot for $650.

For my local range, we go out to 300. So the Trijicon tr24 with the green triangle does pretty well. Zero'd at 50 yard is no more than 2" high on it's way to 210 yards. I've never done a bullseye test of this theory but it was easy enough to get 10" plates at 350 with the bottom of the triangle.

  16. No love for GG&G?

I went with an FLT for two reasons.

    1. It weighed less than a Larue SPR.
    2. I don't need to change scope ring diameters so less screws seemed better to me.

But seriously has any one had issues with GG&G? I've never lost zero, and have never needed repeatability because I have a 1-4x that does everything I need...
