  1. Had a little extra time Saturday so I put the model 41 on a diet.

Started with the typical full weight 5inch bull barrel with a c-more railway. The barrel, sight, and mount combination weighted 1.56 lbs.

After some time on the mill, it became a c-more slide ride mounted directly to the barrel. After some lightening and a little black duracoat it ended up at 0.96 lbs for the sight and barrel combo. The balance is now excellent. Pictures below.

  2. Here is the initial picture of a very long term project I just copmpleted. It is a Springfield 45, new slide with ball cuts, bottom edge bevel, gentle lower and flair, flat top, Heinie ledge sights, hand fit and lapped grip safety for a seamless fit, Kart barrel, EGW bushing, Heinie magwell with Legacy custom mainspring housing, re-profiled back strap / frame ifiled rear for reduced girth, hand checkered mainspring housing at 25 lpi, front strap was checkered by EGW at 25 lpi and hand pointed by myself, magwell opened to maximum size. Extreme engineering trigger parts, Wilson flat trigger, all the work was completed by myself except the front strap checkering (EGW), and the awesome Canyon Blue finish by Canyon Creek. Sorry for the crappy picture, will get some nicer ones up in a few days.

  3. If you plan on only using the new style magazine tubes you can lower the shelf on your STI mag catch by 0.050" and reduce the radius on mag catch where the shelf meets the main portion of the mag catch. If you will be mixing the the new tubes with your older magazines you can raise the upper edge of the slot on the magazine body 0.050" and square up the radius on the front edge of the magazine tube to match your existing tubes.

  4. I have always loaded my 40 SS to 1.2" OAL. The only mags I have found to be 100% reliable are the Wilson 47NX 10mm magazines. With 45 SS magazines I have been able to get to 97-98% reliability which was no where near good enough to trust in a major match. The last time I looked at prices for the Wilson 47NX mags Brian's store had the berst price as well.
