  1. Thinking of trying unbuntu for an operating system in a dell latitude netbook.

Mostly out of curiosity and I think it might make a great emergency computer.

I already know my business software is not compatable.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks!

    FM

I haven't really played too much with Ubuntu. I have the disks, but don't use it.

One plus is that its pretty cheap.

There's no downside to trying it out.

  2. For pistol rounds, the Dillon Powder Funnel fits inside the case and also expands. Look at the example on the left and you can clearly see how it does this. The DPF on the right is for rifle and fits over the case neck.

Ok, so this brings up a question. The rifle powder funnel do not expand the neck and instead fits over it, so how does the rifle powder funnel actually "funnel" in powder?

  3. Okay, this is almost a shameless plug, but not really. My wife works in the HR field doing recruiting (sort of a head hunter, with only one client that keeps her fully engaged) and does a few resumes on the side. She's had a career blog for a while now and has finally gotten her website pretty much finished. It's got good info on how to do your resume, career advice, do's and don'ts when job hunting etc. She's not really looking to add any new clients, but if you're looking for a new job, or want to see how things are being done these days, it's worth a look. For the most part, the folks doing this sort of stuff have ancient websites and are terribly old-school....this is something fresh (yeah, and she's cute too!). Anyway, hopefully nobody here needs this, but if you do, it's worth a few minutes:

    Thanks, passing this along :)

  4. iConvert, ... WeatherBug Elite, Surefire shot timer, google earth, Pandora, Shazam, Constitution, Declaration, urbanspoon.

I've got these.... and use most of them (don't really use Google Earth). What's iSiesmo? Can't seem to find it? Units is a decent free converter app, but lacks currency conversions...

I need one for picture messages

iPhone 3.0 software will include support for MMS... ;) Plus cut-and-paste, etc. In the meantime, while we're waiting on it, there are a couple of apps out there, but I haven't used them...

I also use Dictionaire, Facebook, Twitterific, LDAP Directory, MissingCalc (for computer geeks...), Sol Free, Moonlight lite, Yelp, Light, Skype, Flixster. I bought Shopper - which is an outstanding shopping list application (not just for groceries... it can do just about anything...)

The parking apps are "Take Me To My Car" and "iCarPark" - the latter being a $.99, fuller featured version of the former... Just downloaded the free one ;) Also, there's G-park, and probably a couple of others...

I'm always looking for useable little toys....

Thanks, I'll be trying out the parking app.

  5. From the Daily Telegraph

Fraudsters have obtained data on millions of online video gamers after targeting Sony’s PlayStation Network.

The electronics giant is contacting around 70 million customers warning that details including their names, addresses, dates of birth, passwords and security questions have been stolen.

Sony also admitted that the hackers may have gained access to people’s credit card details.

The network provides online video gaming services and allows streaming of films and music via the internet.

It requires members to submit credit card and personal details to subscribe.

They had to shut down the Playstation Network and have only recently brought it back up.

  6. one time the post office truck came to my house with $3,900 worth of bullets from MG

The little truck bumper was just 10" off the ground and the front wheels were way up.

The post office guy even had a dolly to help get them all the way up the steps and to my door step.

I loaded 1/2 of them in my truck so I could take them to my buddies.

    Wow, that's heavy! :roflol:

  7. I loved it... it was funny and epic... effects were outstanding... stay though the credits for the hint about the next movie. Oh and my wife loved it too.

Thanks, I'm going to try to see it :)

  8. They rock. They have every do-dad and thinga-majig that you could ever need re: photo, video, etc...super service on the phone or online. They don't try to compete on price (many brands have MAP) but are always fair and they do have specials.

Their shopping cart is top of class too. It doesn't look flashy but it works well every time. They have worked out a lot of the little things in the background that shows up as a simple operation on the surface.

Prior to my last purchase, I called and asked all kinds of questions. The guy on the phone knew most of my answers but didn't hesitate to say "hang on" (I thought he was answering another line, etc) But he came back each time and said my "manager said"

    and/or " consider these options..."

Shipping - rock solid every time.

The only downside is if you are shopping on a Jewish holiday, even their shopping cart goes off line...frustrating but I certainly respect their dedication to their faith...

I'm not an employee - just a very happy customer.

PS. If your wallet is a bit heavy...

OMG, they are great. I bought a piano bench but had to return it because it's a factory defect. They told me to just reorder and ship in the defective one and they will re-credit my account. It was hassle free. They called to check up and make sure that everything was in order when my item arrived the second time.

  9. Imagine you're a thief checking cars, you see a truck with the same toolbox you've seen a hundred times and one with a safe in the back, which one would you pay the most attention to?

Safest thing is to drive a 20 yr old beater. Fill the inside with old laundry, broken toys, and fast food wrappers, leave the windows open, break the antenna off and insert a coat hanger. Hide the good stuff under a yellowed T-shirt. No one will touch it!

Hmm, so that's what's hidden in those cars...

  10. I have and love all of the high tech Gore-Tex type products, but it is hard to beat a plain old poncho. Ponchos are great for the range because they are so versatile. They can be used as a cover your your gear or as a clean place to sit. It is possible to score under them, too. I tuck my head into the top like a turtle and write on the sheets or type on the palm. A good mil-surp poncho can be found for a about $20 or a nice PVC one for less than $5.

I agree, simple is usually better, and cheaper :)
