I'm new to reloading and wanted to know how you guys felt about using used brass as opposed to new. Does used brass affect accuracy/velocity, etc...? Does certain brass hold up better than others?

I just ordered my first personal AR (JP CTR-02 with an 18" barrel). Yeah I know it's a hell of a first gun, fortunately I can afford it at this point and I knew I would want one eventually anyway. I want a good all-around gun and wanted some of you guy's opinion on the best barrel length. I want a good long range gun but not too long to hinder shooting while moving around and 3-gun competition in the future. I know there is no perfect gun for all occasions I was just wondering what the "norm" was.
