Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I ordered new old-frame mags and welded a steel spacer to the back. I just needed to do a final sanding on them to allow for a nice smooth finish. I figured that trying to create a franken-mag was too much of a problem, I tried it once. I addressed the issue by making functional mag designs work in the gun. The added weight really lets the mags drop quickly. There is no way this gun will ever be carried for defense so I will just use it to teach my protection courses. Thanks for the help.
  2. Well after some minor welding and filing the 1/8 spacer was installed. I notched out the follwer and the mag not only worked properly, but held 14 rounds. I still need to do some minor polishing. I'm very happy that the gun is finally working properly.
  3. Nice. The link is helpful. I'll let you know how everything comes out. My materials arrived today.
  4. I'm going to try something based on some specs I took off of different 9mm mags. If it works I'll let everyone know. It will take some time, but I'll post results and pics when I am done. It won't be for the faint-of-heart!! But I love this little gun so much, I'm willing to try anything...well not anything!!
  5. Sounds great Monty. Thanks. I have enough spare mags that I may try some custom mag work myself! I now see where the issues lie with these mags. They are built to hold longer bullets of different calibers. I compared the mag on my Sig to an EAA and the difference is quite noticable. It is the same as my Para 14.45. Based on my measurments I need to install a spacer that is .10" thick. Then I need to rework the follower to function with the spacer.
  6. That would be a problem the less ammo there is in the mag. My issue is the opposite.
  7. I have a new 9mm EAA Witness Compact Steel and I love it. The gun shoots better than any pistol I own including my Sigs. I am having an issue with magazine capacity effecting feeding. If I load more than 9 rounds in the mags the rounds will nose-dive into the magazine. It will do this until there are 5 rounds left. Then it will feed properly. If I load 9 rounds only the mags function flawlessly. EAA tech is a waste and Tanfoglio is going to contact them to try to resolve the issue. I have changed over to Wolff springs and am still having the problem. I think that the problem is the follower but would like some futher help prior to changing them. I am also going to check the feed-lip dimensions. Thanks
  8. No, the mag release is not reversed. The type of ammo has had no effect on the issue. I also put some bend in the spring. This is what is driving my nuts!! I love the gun but it can't be used to it's full potential.
