  1. Any idea on round count yet?

I didn't go last year, or the year before, so a general round count wouldn't hut. Not too worried about rifle and pistol as I can bring 500 of each as well as 250 shotgun or more, but the buckshot and slug requirement would be nice to know!

Here is what I found with a search on last year's match

OK, folks... Bring your cleaning gear 'cause you're going to be shooting some ammo...

    Rifle: 190

    Pistol: 170

    Bird: 70

    Slug: 25

See you in a couple of weeks!

  2. NV is an open-carry State .. so no need for any kind of license for open carry; having said that OC will kick you out of most casinos.

Conceal Carry (out of sight, out of mind) requires license/permit. CC is fine at the Sands (but not at the Convention Center), even if you see 'no guns allowed' signs at the doors you can 'properly' ignore them, at worst will be a 'trespassing' warning.

Here are the pertinent statutes (NRS 202.3673) http://www.leg.state.nv.us/nrs/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec3673

Open Carry presents its own set of problems that I don't want to deal with. Not saying I'm against it, I just choose not to.

TX permit is not honored in Nevada. Arizona non-resident permits are. Nevada non-resident permits are a PITA to get (you have to take the training in NV). QED - AZ non-resident permit.

The funny thing is, you don't need the non-resident permit in AZ anymore, it appears, so you'd just get it to carry in certain other states... ;)

    Pickles,

Although I am an Aggie, I do have some knowledge of US geography B). Dave is correct. Even though I don't need a permit in AZ to carry concealed in AZ; $60, fingerprints and a copy of my TX CHL nets me three states that do not recognize TX permits. NV, OH, and WV.

  3. My 8 year old granddaughter with the Tactical Solutions I built up for her with the help of her Uncle B.J.. It is the Tactical Solutions AR22 LT upper with Hogue overmold handguard and grip, topped with an Aimpoint Comp M4. She likes shooting it with the TacSol Cascade Ti suppressor that is on it in the picture.

  4. Overall placement awards are given out to the top 16. After that it's class or category awards.

Why 16? I would have figured 10 simply because ten is the base of the decimal numeral system, by far the most common system of denoting numbers in both spoken and written language :D

Back in the day when USPSA held a shootoff after the match was over the top 16 would make up the 8 brackets for the shootoff.

  5. I picked up a S&W 422 today for $100. It's in good shape and is a cool little .22 (almost looks like a baby 41). I'm going to set it up for my 7 yr old granddaughter's rimfire steel gun. BJ is going to see if Hogue can make some thin stocks for it and we are trying to come up with a good way to mount an Aimpoint Micro. The gun seems so much better than the plastic .22's that are out there.

  6. John is still pretty quick. BJ was helping him out at Steel Nationals one afternoon and they were talking about where time was lost. It went right back to what Brian said in getting the gun out of the holster. They were practicing on Showdown and John's first shot was 1.2-1.3 and BJ was under a second. He looked at BJ and said OK we're going to race. They started racing on draws to the 25 yd gong. They both got draws down around .89. Was fun to watch and BJ thought it was way cool to be shooting with one of the legends he has only read about since starting the sport.
