  1. The 2018 Nordic Components & Vortex Optics Tri-Gun presented by the Minnesota 3Gun Group will be held on June 22nd-24th, 2018.   A huge thanks to the Title Sponsors Nordic Components and Vortex Optics, and to the host range Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club.  The 3 day match will feature 9 exciting and challenging stages.

Match slots will be limited so we could maintain the same quality match (and generous prize table). The match reached full capacity with a waiting list in the past 5 years, with last year’s match filling within 4 minutes and 42 seconds of opening. It will likely fill fast again so plan accordingly to get your best chances of getting in.

We want to thank all of those who have supported and participated in our match these past years and helped us make our event a premier match. To show our appreciation, we will once again open the registration in two rounds.

The 1st round of registrations will open in mid-January and WILL ONLY be for those who participated in our match for the past THREE consecutive years (2015, 2016, and 2017). There are a limited amount of shooters who qualify and they will receive their early registration invitations through email in early January. This 1st round of registration will only be open for a limited time.

The 2nd round of registrations will open up on Thursday, February 1st at 8PM Central Time. The 2nd round registration will be done through Practiscore Match Managament. The process of this registration is:
    1. Fill out the match registration form.
    2. You will receive an automated email stating that you are registered. Print this out and mail it in with your match fee payment.
    3. Payment must be received within two weeks of the date you registered.
    4. When payment is received, you will receive a match confirmation email with links to your own personal match management page.

Once the match fills, a waiting list will automatically be started and will be based on the order you registered.  Self-Squadding for approved shooters will open at a later date to be announced.

We are excited for this match and we have a lot of things planned. We have all the intentions of keeping the reputation of this match as a premier match. Match information and updates will be posted on the Match Website and the Match Facebook Page.  Limited updates will be posted on the Enos Forum.

We look forward to seeing you at the match.

  2. A few updates to pass on to all the shooters:

    1.   We’ve updated the match rules for both the Nordic Vortex Tri-Gun to maintain a consistent and fair match.  The updated match rules are posted on the match website.  Updates are mostly to address already common prohibited practices and prohibited items.

    2.   The 2017 Tri-Gun Match Round Count is in.  We have a number of stages that have optional targets that may be engaged by more than one type of firearm.  There will be no shotgun buckshot used this year.

    3.   Plan for a shotgun-only stage with a round count around 50, and a handgun-only stage with a round count of about 60.

    4.   Squadding is self-assigning on Practiscore and are 1st come 1st serve basis.  Log into your Personal Match Management Page to sign up to a squad.  Shooters who have not selected a squad will be placed on an open squad by the Match Officials before the match starts.  Once placed, the shooter cannot move to another squad.

    5.   Rifle slings will be needed, but no shotgun slings this year.

    6.   Motorized vehicles will be restricted in the Gate 3 Bays to match staff only due to the dust as well as crowd barriers being used on the road for stages using multiple bays.  Special considerations will be given to shooters with limited mobility who submit a request by email to the Match Directors.  Distance from the parking lot to the furthermost stage is only about 150 yards.  Push/pull carts are allowed.

    7.   Please review the 2017 Tri-Gun Match Schedule.  There will be no Shooters’ Meeting in the morning of the 1st day of the match.  A Match Director Briefing will be sent out electronically to all the shooters, as well as presented by the Range Officers at your first stage of the match.

    8.   The range closures for the match will begin on Saturday, June 17th

    · Gate 3 and the competition bays in Gate 2 are off-limits to everyone but the match staff setting up the stages.

    · Gate 1 bays will be shut down beginning on Monday, June 19th for the 2A Heritage 3-Gun Junior Camp we and the Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club are proud to be a host of.

    9.   The range will be open on Thursday, June 22nd at 9AM.  Shooters can inspect the stages, but must yield to the Match Staff who are shooting the stages.  Registration check-in will be open from 2PM to 7Pm at the main clubhouse at Gate 2.  A short bay will be available for sight-in from 2PM to 7PM for shooters that have completed the registration check-in.  Registration check-in will continue on Friday, June 23rd from 6AM to 7AM.

  3. Reminder that the on-line squadding opens tonight at 7:00 PM US Central Time. There will be a total of 18 squads with 12 shooters each. When it opens, it is first come first serve basis. It will be up to each of you to choose a squad. Those not squadded within a week or two before the match will be placed in an open squad of our choosing.

To squad, go to your Personal Match Management Page. Send Jomar an email at Jomar.MN3GG@gmail.com if you need to have the link to your page re-sent to you.

The 2017 Match Schedule is also posted in the match website.

  4. We're excited for this match.  Its grown bigger and better year after year and we can hardly wait to show what we have for this year.  A few updates to share with all of you.

Refund Deadline:  Match cancellations will need to be submitted before the end of the day on May 27, 2017 to receive a full refund.  After the May 27th deadline, refunds on any cancellations will only be given if a replacement shooter from the waiting list is able to take your place.

Stages and Round Count:  We are working on finalizing the stage plans.  We have quite a few in hand, and we'll soon be meeting together to decide on what stages works best, combined with others, or eliminated.  As soon as we finalize the stages, we will post a round count.

Squadding:  The on-line squadding will open on Tuesday, May 23rd, at 7:00 PM US Central Time. Send me an email if you need to have that re-sent to you.

We're looking forward to seeing you at the match.

Is there a round count?   Or a projected round count?  I saw the 2016 round count on the website. Will have to mail ammo out. Thanks.

We (MN 3Gun Group) have just finished up with the 3-Gun Intro Courses and are now busy with the SWAT Shootout match coming up this weekend. When that is done, we will switch gears onto the Nordic Vortex Tri-Gun match. We will be reviewing all the stage designs we have individually designed and determine what we will use, after which we will have a round count.

Squadding will likely open up during the evening hours of May 15th. An official announcement will soon be posted on the exact time, likely 7PM Central Time.

  6.

In just 2 hours, the registrations for the 2017 Nordic Vortex Tri-Gun will be opening.  Match slots will be limited so we could maintain the same quality match (and generous prize table). Slots will likely go fast like it did the past years when the match filled in less than 20 minutes, so be ready right when it opens for your best chances to get in.

Once the match fills, a wait list will automatically start.  If you get waitlisted, please do not send payment in until you hear from us.  We reserved a lot of slots for the match sponsors who generously donate to the match, more than what will likely be taken.  As we get closer to the match, those unfilled sponsor slots will be opened up and they will be offered to the people on the waitlist in the order they registered.   If you get on the waitlist, stay hopeful.  We will work on getting you off of it and into the match.

    3. Payment must be received within two weeks of the date you registered
    4. When payment is received, you will receive a match confirmation email with links to your own personal match management page

Early registrations invitations for those who participated in our match for the past THREE years (2014, 2015, and 2016) have already been sent.  There are a limited amount of shooters who qualify. This early registration will only be open for a limited time.  If you qualify for the early registrations and have not received you invitation, contact Jomar.

Match sponsorship letters have been sent out.  Sponsored shooters should contact their match sponsors to confirm their sponsor slot in the match.  Match sponsors can contact Jay and Gunnar.

Once the match fills, a waiting list will automatically be started and that order will also be based on the order you registered.  The match will be self squadding through Practiscore and will open at a later date to be announced.

  8. Also, I've been doing a little dependability test on mine to see how many rounds I can fire through it without cleaning or maintaining it before it begins to have issues.  After last night's match where 2 of us took turns using it, I'm currently at 1,150 rounds and it is still performing flawlessly.

  9. I have an MPX with the Hiperfire 24C trigger on it.  I use it for both house protection and in competitions.  I didn't care for the Sig thin folding stock (too long) or the Sig collapsing stock (too wide).  I found more stock options at Lage Manufacturing and they have most everything in stock.  They also make stocks for the CZ Scorpion and other carbines.   http://max-11.com/

I personally confirm this.  I gladly volunteered my MPX as the test firearm for the 24C.  I brought my MPX to the Hyperfire shop and we installed the 24C in it.  Took it to the range and it functioned great.

I'm not an actor by any means, but here is the video from Hyperfire of me testing the 24C in the MPX Pistol and SBR.

How many rounds fired? any issues? I bought the 243g and installed it but have not dad a chance to try it out.

Over 1,000 now since I've installed it and not a single issue.  Ran it through a whole match last Sunday with no problems.

Funny you should ask. I have a SIG MPX, just asked Hyperfire if any of their triggers would work.

Response was 'Yes the 24 series works great in the MPX". I'm tempted to try one.

  16. The results from Day 2 of the match is posted in Practiscore, but it appears that the system may be having some issues as viewing the scores in their new format only shows the Day 1 scores.

So here is the link to view the scores in their old format which is working correctly.

Per the match rules, the maximum penalty time for any stage is 300 seconds. Those who received a final time of over 300 seconds had their times adjust to reflect the 300 maximum penalty time.

Please review your scores and notify me as soon as possible of any errors. I will need to see your official paper score sheet for verification.

  17. We've been very busy the past few days building the stages. We have 9 stages that we are excited to have you shoot.

Registration check in will begin at the main clubhouse from 2 PM to 7 PM. Late registration check in will be Friday from 6 AM to 7 AM.
You will be given match booklets. As most if not all of you know, the written stage briefs almost always changes when the stage actually hits the ground. The match booklets were printed with the original written briefs, but the ones posted at the stages will be the official and final written stage briefs.
We will have a 25 yard sight-in bay available for use from 2 PM to 8 PM. This bay is located at Bay 1 at Gate 3.
The Match Staff will be shooting all the stages tomorrow. Please make sure to give them space and yield to them if they arrive at a stage you are on.
There is a lot of freeway construction going on in the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area. The biggest one that affects the Forest Lake area is construction on I-35E south of Forest Lake where traffic lanes will be limited to 1 or 2 lanes depending on the time of day. If you're coming through that way, please plan ahead.
We look forward to seeing all of you soon. We'll have a exciting weekend ahead.
