I generally avoid cast lead bullets due to smoke, etc but .45 cal bullets are so expensive that lead makes sense cost wise. I'm looking for some recommendations for cast .45 bullets. Accuracy, smoke, lead fouling in the barrel, and delivery time are all important factors.

I need some ideas for a solid reloading bench that doesn't need to be anchored to a wall or floor to be sturdy. Pictures would be great too!

oil, lots of oil. I shot my Open STI in the white for about a year before hard chroming it. the gun started to look like total shit toward the end because I got lazy and neglected to wipe it down. rust stains, etc. In Hawaii the humidity is nuts
What I've been doing is applying some FP-10 to a rag and putting a light film of it on all the metal surfaces before putting the gun in the safe. Seems to be working okay.

silicon spray. make sure your done with your blueing etc. it wont come off.
The gun is completely unfinished, in the white.
-
What product have you guys found to be best to apply to a pistol "in the white" during storage to prevent rust? The gun will be finished down the road obviously.

Thanks Seth!

I'm wondering if anyone makes a kydex holster (preferably DOH) for a 6" 2011 with the tactical (rail) frame.

Dan and his staff did a great job putting a fun match on the ground and running it smoothly. It was by far the worst performance of my life, but that's not the match's fault!

So, am I seeing things, or are we shooting a Texas star strong hand only?
yes you are....
it will be weak hand with the top half hard covered and it will be spinning.
No, no the only reason to shoot it one handed it because you want to. the middle port drops out of the way, the side ports have to be held open with the ropes.
Ahhh okay. It looked like the middle port had the be held open by a rope. I was prepared to fire 5 rounds to avoid FTEs and move on.

I prefer the .100" wide sights paired with their adjustable rear. It's all personal preference.

Just got off the phone with Comfort Inn and got the rooms booked. Got the discount with no hassles.
Looking forward to the match!

Dan, what time do we need to be at the range by on Sunday morning? Also, is the Comfort Inn in Duncansville still discounting rooms for the match? Is there a discount code to use on their site?

3.5gr of 231 with a Berry's 147gr plated bullet feel great and is accurate. Loaded up enough of it for this weekend's SC match.
Is that Winchester 231?
I would like to try that, but I shoot 124gr MT Gold CMJ
Yes. I tried it with 124s and didn't like it.

Oh and Jeremy, please tell me you ordered a RAM too?
-
Jeremy, you should have ordered the new Apex FSS trigger kit!!!!
Dave, is that the one that looks like a Glock trigger? If it is, I'm not a fan of the Glock look and feel... that's just me.
It feels nothing like a Glock. The pretravel and overtravel are so minimal that it feels as close to a 1911 as I've ever felt in a non-1911 gun. My .40 Pro limited build will definitely have one.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of shooting a gun with a 5" Scheumann Tribrid setup as opposed to a traditional compensator in an open gun in .38 Super?

Yes, that is one of the products which is currently in development.
No firm release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted.

Awesome! I'm planning a M&P .40 Pro limited gun project and the ICE is the best magwell design I've ever used (used them on Glock and 2011s). I didn't want to settle for the other M&P magwell option.

The quest for the magic, however the rules require that you only look where I tell you to look.
Ok I'll ignore the rules, first step HS6, then there are two more worthy of tiral 3n38 (outside the rules) and AA#7 (also forbidden).
Is HS6 very different from AC, well yes an no, it dirty but still cheap, and it puts a little more slap in the palm but less flip. But actually they are not that far apart and your preference might be a suprise.
AA#7 and 3N38 will both require an extended OAL and both push a lot of gas, AA#7 is cheap and chunky dirty but gasses like N105, and 3N38 is expensive and hard to get, thows a nice flame.
I shoot Silhouette it is very similar to AC and TruBlue in feel, speed gas etc.
Thanks Ron!!
I can take my OAL to 1.180...anything past that is no good and it won't feed right. I run 1.170 now and the bullet doesn't even touch the autocomp at all.
What is a good HS-6 Load, i'd like to give the stuff a try.
8.3gr of HS-6 with a 124gr MG CMJ at 1.170" with a small rifle primer got me 173pf at two major matches this year out of a 5" gun with no popple holes.
I tried Autocomp as well. HS-6 shot a lot flatter in my gun.

Regarding the prize table, must a shooter be present at the end of the match to claim a prize if won? I'm shooting Saturday and was planning on heading home after finishing the match on Saturday.
Yes, that or you may designate someone to pick something up for you.
Maybe we'll just have to stay an extra night, thanks Dan! Need anyone to help work the match on Sunday by any chance?

I loaded up 100 rounds of 3.5gr W231 under a 147gr Berry's bullet at 1.150". Taking them to the range later today for testing.
Best cast lead .45 bullets?

Which hardness would you go with for a 200gr or 230gr bullet at major PF?
