This will show how little I know: Is a 20 lb recoil spring for a Commander size pistol the same as a 20 lb recoil spring for a Government model? The reason I ask is I ordered a 20 lb recoil spring for my Commander from one of the well know top end 1911 custom gun makers in Arkansas. The package I received identified it as a 20 lb recoil spring, but said nothing about Commander or Government. The spring was maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch longer than my old 18 lb Commander spring. Does this appear correct or should I be concerned that I received the wrong item? Thanks for your help.
