  1. If your goal is to be a top GM in OPEN--go 38SC.

Anything less than that---go 9 Major.

Cost is a major factor in most decisions nowadays and 9 is just cheaper.

What is it about 9mm that would prevent someone from making GM?

I said "TOP GM" which is different from making GM. Nothing would prevent someone from making GM with a 9 Major. In my experience with 9 and 38SC, you can not configure a 9 major gun to shoot as flat and fast as a 38SC.

So help us understand. As a "TOP GM" what is the difference the 9 shooters aren't taking advantage of. You say 9's don't shoot as flat and fast. I had one gun that I shot for 2 years as a Super and then I changed the barrel to 9 and shot it for another 2 years and I couldn't tell the difference, but then I'm just a Master at 93%

  2. From what I have seen it doesn't require wins to get sponsors, in many cases it appears it doesn't even require top 16 finishes. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody in particular just a general observation. I've been in the prize table line ahead of lots of guys with big names on their shirts for years and I just got some help last year.

    Curt, Jessy....that's funny

  3. Just my .02

all the talk about the perfect reticle is a bit of waste if you're shooting 223. Its relatively flat shooting for the distances in 3-Gun and with a 200 zero were only talking about a 6-7" drop at 300 (less if you're loading your own for an even flatter trajectory). For shooting a Larue or flasher out a 300 you don't need a fancy reticle for super precision, you just need something that holds a zero and allows your eyes to see the target. I've been using the same 1.25-4 Accupoint with a triangle since I switched to Tac-Scope in 2006 and it does the job. I've looked at lots of other scopes and, for me, none offer any real advantage over what I have.

    Flame on!

  4. I dont think that would work either... I had never shot the proam before, and i thought to myself, "well, i have a couple of sponsors, but im no pro".

That's the way I see myself, I have a couple sponsors but I'm no Pro. That said in the past 5 years my lowest finish at SMM3G, Iron Man and the Nationals, the only large 3-Guns matches I've shot, is 15th. Does that make me a Pro?

  5. It won't happen. Some years back Jerry was trying to get S&W to make an 8-shot 627 in 9mm and just about everybody he spoke with wanted one or more. I told him I'd buy 3-4 and at our club with only about a dozen ICORE shooters they would have sold 20+. crickets chipping....

If Jerry can't get a gun built, no one can
