Watered down competition. You’ve shot the IRC- you know what’s happening there. There’s a race in maybe 1 division, usually by people who can’t seriously race in another. We can almost always mail the trophies to the division winners using the sign up sheet a week out. Not very fun.

I’m down for 30 uspsa divisions as long as they’re all at their own nationals. But that’s not the case.

Yep, i dont see how this is fixable though.  Pond is just to small.   To make irc interesting it needs to be something that everyone would want besides another title like 10k for the open division (only) win or something, thats the only way its going to be all the contenders going for it.

I suspect the BOD is discussing rule changes to Revolver Division without seeking any input whatsoever from those of us who actually participate in that division.

Can anybody prove me wrong?  MWP, did anybody talk to you about this?

A8 dave fourtnoy said in the meeting he had been ad hoc polling people at matches and everyone he asked said yes.

He might have asked 1 guy or 50, who knows...

I would think that's correct. My trigger is set at 6 pounds, and it will fire Fed 100s reliably, but not Federal loaded ammo.

Yep.  The cups and even the compound is different according to the guy i talked to.

He did also say the compound is in process of being changed for the entire federal line to 100% lead free(i thought this was already the case but he said no).

This would create another revolver division and we already are the smallest USPSA shooting division...

    Iron Sight (Ltd Revo)

    Optics (Open Revo)

The discussion in the bod meeting did not go this far, the way it was presented was just allow optics without any discussion about a new division.   It would make it defacto optics though...

Did you get them to tell you what primers they do use for production ammo then? If the 100’s are supposed to be the gold standard of primers, why would they not put them in their competition ammo?

Based on the conversation i had, the 100's dont go in loaded ammo.

  6. I am at shot show, talked to federal.

The 100's are not used in production run ammo.

They are as of yesterday ~3 years behind on orders.

Primer production for all types is produced on same machines.

They do allocations for reloaders, its not over run that goes to reloaders.

Between cci and federal(both under vista) cci has much greater production capacity which is why they are more available.

yeh was looking at them,,, but they do the signature required thing,,, so nope for me,, do they do some kinda guaranteed arrival time and day notification ?

Brownells wanted delivery signature too which i have no problem providing.

    Ha!

My pistols consist of 1911's that stopped being competitive about thirty years ago.  Nope, no desire to own a Sig.  Have shot them and I guess they are OK but honestly don't care.  Seems like all the newer pistols are boxy things and just prefer a 1911 for a pistol.

Smith and Wesson touted this feat for months and it turned out to be a dud.  Poorly documented, unsure of the conditions and standards, and there seemed to be no impartial observer involved thus leaving it open to all sorts of questions.  What I saw was not the way to run a test with any credibility.

That said, there is always a reason why things happen and I bet there is more behind the scenes stuff than we know so will just wait and see what falls out.

    Meh.

He did it, Guinness was there and they said its good, that's that.

From previous events over the years, (all types of Guinness events) I understand that Guinness is kinda a flakey outfit. They aren’t as precise on some aspects as you would think they should be. While other aspects they are quite anal.

Looking back Guinness apparently went through a super woke period where they stopped recognizing shooting records because guns bad, at least they got over that.

Also, no Guinness people in any of the videos.

    Yes, he shot a 1.88.

World records?  Sorry but that one needs a bit more evidence.

Lets see what happens today when he is supposed to shoot this with Guinness people certifying the results.  I imagine Smith and Wesson will feature the event at their HQ.  Beaucoup stress and pressure.

I imagine it is already over and am really excited to see the results.

Based on how this is tricking out on social media, what you saw is what you get, its a done deal.

There is someone's cell phone video of a Guinness fella presenting him the framed record.

I thought the attempt was to be done today (Sat, 7 Oct)?

Thinking this is one of his rehearsals.

Can only be three runs for Guinness and would be a lot more formal of a test.

Impressive bit of shooting none the less.

    1. Draw, knock down 6 plates with a 9mm handgun. Previous record was a 2.05 with a pistol. Papa J, on a cold run, shot a 2.01 WITH A REVOLVER.

    2. Draw, knock down 6 plates with a revolver. Papa J shot a 1.88

The usual plan is to fly to SFO from Toronto, stay overnight, get the rental and drive to Moro bay.  Fallon adds 90-120 minutes.  Makes getting back rather unpleasant.  Flying into Reno isn't great from here and on points difficult if not impossible.

i see, so its a direct flight issue.

Neither morro or fallon are particularly good about getting a direct flight that puts you close to the range in one shot from far away.

I flew into SLO 3 of the 5 times I shot IRC in morro, and every single time the journey home had some mega delay/cancellation.

I just didn’t see it posted on the ICORE fb page nor mentioned anywhere. Hopefully the dates don’t collide with the WRC and the WRC is at Moro Bay. Fallon for us is just a tad too far.
Flying these days is horrendous and guns make it worse.  For Moro Bay we got up at 3am and got home at 11:45pm.  Nothing is on time anymore.

Our jump from grand junction to denver was cancelled, 4 of us were at the match hotel took my rental and hauled ass across i70  to catch our flights, we all got to our gates 10 min before boarding.   It wasn't how i expected to spend the day but we did make it, drove through hard rain first 40 miles which sucked but it cleared up after that, remaining 3 hours was the most scenic drive you can imagine.

Any idea If it is going to be around the same time as this year in Morro Bay??  Enquiring minds need to know......

Based on the fb discussion it will either be july in morro or 1st weekend of oct in fallon, but that's just what people who were at fallon last weekend were told, its not keith or nate saying it, so who knows.

Which one did you shoot? Would you shoot it next year? How'd it go?

I had to skip this year, but I hope to shoot Cameo next year.

I shot the IRC.  I shot 3 M/NS in the first 6 shots of the match, otherwise would have been 3rd open.  Struggled through much of the rest of the match with a handful of more or less acceptable stages performances.

They put a really good match on the ground, solid stages.

That part of colorado was absolutely incredible(scenery).  We took a ride through the Colorado national monument which there aren't really words for.

Is this a farily common problem with the 929 platform?  I have two of them and am reatively new to revolver shooting.  I am trying to learn as much as I can about them but am having some noob type things creep up on me during matches (front screw that holds the iron sights on coming loose and throwing off my zero, screw underneath my Hogue grip lossening up, strain screw walking itself out, etc.)

No, its not a thing.   My guns broke from year and years of use/abuse.   There was a period where those guns were dry fired 6 days a week for 3 years.

I also early on did a thing as a noob (not understanding this was very stupid) which was working the trigger with the sideplate off(even once) that probably set the stage.
