The other night, Arik Levy interviewed Yong Lee on YouTube. He's a LEO, or at least a trainer for LEOs, and is currently going thru getting his department ready for using RDS on their duty pistols. You mentioned duty guns which brought it to mine. Here's the link in case you're interested.

Ya I know Yong, I work about 50 miles south of him. Knows his stuff.

I have an STI Spartan V 9, need the specs on two parts and wondering if someone already replaced theirs and knows, didn't come up in a search.

What is the diameter of the fiber rod in the factory front sight?

What are the dimensions of the screw that holds the STI magwell onto the STI magwell MSH?

Parts numbers might be helpful as well in case anyone here is an STI parts dealer.  Obviously need to source both, the folks at STI did not respond when I tried asking them.

Did you send them an email or call? Every time I've called I've been able to speak to a person and get my questions answered.... Just a thought.

  3. Just installed the semi drop in in my 5" gun on Friday and shot it yesterday at the range. Put 10 rounds through it...115 grain Winchester....and then sat down at 25 yards, set the gun on a bag and pushed out 5 rounds for this......

I didn't take a great deal of time but didn't rush it either. The gun is considerably more accurate and POA/POI did not change at all for me. Install was not quick! I have a cerekoted slide and it made things less than fun. Install time was about 3.5 hours but I did take plenty of time. Lock up is TIGHT. I ran 115, 124, 147 and hand loads and had zero issues while running a 14# recoil spring. So, shots 11-15 out of the barrel from a sand bag with moderate concentration yielded a sub 2" group at 25 yards....for what that's worth.

  4. Custom built 2011 gun with primarily STI parts... When the mag does lock the slide to the rear on an empty chamber the slide lock lever is barely in the notch. Seems like maybe the guts of the magazine (spring) are not strong enough to fully force the slide lock lever up? Is this something that a Grams spring and follower will usually fix. I'm just running 126mm mags and primarily only run IDPA round count (10). If I push on the bottom of the mag when I push the slide to the rear it locks up fine...leading me to the spring weight question. Thanks in advance.
