  1. thanks for the heads up on widners I usually on load and shoot 45. I do remember the last run on primers when our overlord was elected by somebody?? I finally got a AR.. Just happened to be at Cabellas when some overpriced ARs came in. So, now I'm trying to switch up the reloader. Yeah... Very bad timing. I just couldn't justify spending my golf budget on guns till it became a real possibility that there is another run on gun bans.
  2. Has anyone seen any bulk .224 bullets or primers available for purchase? Looks like folks are buying them up till the end of time, I would think that a small manufacturer would at least have bullets available? Should I just buy ammo instead of converting the 650 to .223 and reloading?
  3. The first and only time I've seen a squib was at IDPA nationals a few years back. The guy acted like it happened to him a lot....not sure what type of reloader he was running but that seemed crazy to me. I haven't seen a squib since but I tell my wife and any guest what to watch out for. It's possible but I'm very careful and I run a xl650 with powder check. I never had any trouble with powder on my machine. It seems to be very steady with accurate no2. It's always possible that it was a squib. With what I've heard about Glock stock barrels I just assumed that was the case. It was a few years back. My wife says she doesn't remember, it seemed like a jam and that's when she gave it to me. Scary thought if that was the case. I got her a STI 1911 9mm and she runs manufactured rounds, Winchester usually. She likes the new kick and 9mm are cheap to buy in bulk.
  4. I just read BBI's reply. All the bullets I had in stock were purchased in 2009. I stocked up a while back and took up another hobby for a while. Now the machine is dusted off and I'm making up the 11,000 plus bullets I had in stock. I have 2,000 more precision 230g RNF to make up then its time to get more stock before my wife cuts my budget
  5. I can't remember if it was a BBI bullet, it very well could have been precision but again I can't remember. A buddy of mine told me never to run lead through a Glock. I never had and thought moly was ok. I had a Glock 21 that my wife was shooting and it seemed to have jammed. I couldn't move the slide or release it. Well I took it home and after some prying and a lot of work I got the gun apart. Turns out the barrel had swollen up. I couldn't get the barrel back in if I tried. I had a kkm drop in that just arrived and there was no other damage so I dropped the kkm barrel in and it runs fine with moly but it likes the OAL to be shorter. My Kimber 1911 doesn't care what I put in it. So, not pointing fingers at all and can't remember which moly manufacturer I was using at the time, this was about 3 years back. It was enough for me to decide to never use a stock barrel. I just made up 8,000 BBI rounds, can't remember ever having problems with them and there support is great. They seem to be a great company, I just use 45 ACP and only in my 1911. The Glocks rarely get fired. They are more for home defense. I'd thought about getting a second Glock 21 but would never use the stock barrel. I just don't trust their barrels after the one expanded while my wife was using it.
  6. Thanks. BBI seems to have the best support that I have seen so far and they always have stock. Too bad every Glock I buy needs a drop in barrel to use them but that's another subject I like BBI and precision, precision says the swag there bullets instead of casting, I'm probably being too critical but do you think this matters? I'd like to make one or two purchases of bullets, know what the powder grain needs to be and just keeping running the machine! That would be nice.
  7. Looks like zero has a long lead time. Is FMJ better than Moly. Should I worry about copper fouling? The bullet looks like it will run smooth.
  8. Hello, this question has probably been asked before. I'm hoping to get the most up to date opinions. I have been using Molly bullets from Black Bullets International and Precision Bullets. What 45 ACP 230 grain bullet do you prefer for heavy use, bulk purchasing, and of course reliability and accuracy?
  9. I was looking at those last night. Looks like a good unit. I've never had an open gun but cmore has been a name I've heard for a while. Thanks!
  10. The 19 is without a doubt easier to conceal. I like my 1911 though and there is no open carry in Texas unfortunately in case the gun shows. I usually untuck my polo when I'm golfing or at the golf range. I was thinking maybe the g19 would be the best conceal and throw some optics on. I just don't shoot the glock anywhere near as well as the 1911 and the 1911 has a little more stopping power. Never want to use it but would rather be able to protect my family at all times rather then huddling in the corner and waiting for the police to arrive. That and I am big on 2cnd amendment and USA made. Of course though, thanks for the info. I'll check those optics out. We have a small Tuesday steel match here. I could practice more with the glock at the local matches and clubs. I'd have to modify one of the guns we have already. Wife won't sign off on a new gun and optics. Besides, next gun should be a 2011 or AR!
  11. Hello, what is a good red dot sight for a glock 19 and kimber eclipse full size pistols. I usually shoot idpa; however, I'm looking to shoot at the nearby clubs and want to take advantage of optics for concealment carry. I play alot of golf so I need something that I can rotate alot with and will not show with just a shirt over the gun. Thanks, Don
  12. Like everyone else said, just enough to get the bullet in without shaving it. The more flair you put on, the more stress there will be on the top of the casing. If you flare too much then eventually you the top of the case will start cracking. So flairing as little as possible will extend your case's life. Check out Brian Enos's reloading DVD. It has some good info.
  13. The casefeeder is definitely what makes the 650. That's why the 650 was, according to the folks at Dillon with whom I've discussed the matter, designed from the ground up to work with the casefeeder. A 650 with a casefeeder however, IMHO at least, is in a whole different ballpark than a 550, and I say that as someone who's owned both. I've never had a problem with the powder check on the 650, but then I'm one of those guys who tends to pick one bullet, one powder charge, and then stick with it for a long time, so there's not a whole lot of recalibration required for me. My powder check seems to move around. I may not have it just right yet. I have had my 650 for only 6 mos or so.
  14. The fps is about 740 on a 230 grain 45acp rnf bullet. I use a 14lb sprinco progressive spring. The gun is a Kimber Custom Eclipse. The lube is slide glide, of course I think I had a class with you and Matt Burkett a few years back.
  15. Are you thumbing the slide stop? I have issues with the plastic wilson followers not locking my slide back sometimes as well, its the reason I use metal follower mags. Also, sometimes the wilson mags when new need a little break in period as the follower might have a burr dragging that happened during the molding process. You know, I may be thumbing the release. I'll keep an eye on that. Thanks. Some of the mags are about a month old, the others are anout 4 months old at most.
  16. +10 to that. Without a Casefeeder, auto-indexing only complicates the machine without delivering any increase in speed. Manual indexing is WAY underrated. Although some swear by the Powder Check System, I never put them on my press (even though I was sponsored by Dillon). Just one more thing to fiddle with every time you change calibers, and every time you change the powder charge in the same caliber. Look in the case as you're setting the bullet on - that's the way to reload. Give me a call when you get a few minutes. be Toll-free: 1 877 219-5598 I agree with Brian that the powder check is unreliable. It will buzz after a while and the weight hasnt changed. I constantly have to change the setting on the powder check system. Even with the constant changes after say 100 rounds, I like it because if I have an empty or a double it will be very obvious. I sometime will make alot of rounds at a time and wont concentrate on whats in the case all the time.. not to mention distractions.
  17. With out a doubt the 650 w case feeder and powder check system. I have had some deprimer pin issues with it and just had a spring go bad... but you really cant go wrong with it. It just takes a little maintenance like anything else. Dillon has been very good about sending parts out, no questions asked. I would recommend to make alot of ammo in case something does break, so you wont get too stressed waiting for that replacement part. I am trying to keep 3-5K ready at all times. Also, if you need primers and you are shooting 45, I would recommend putting a large order for magtech large primers in with Cabelas online. Any other primer will take a very very long time.. from what I have witnessed. Also precision rnf seems to be the best bullet for me. Lead bullets are just to meessy for the machine and everythign else. Good Luck! It can be a big purchase with all the extras but I think it is worth it!
  18. I noticed that my 650 works much better when it was some WD or oil on the main shaft and other parts! what is the rcommended oil or greas to use to keep it running smoothly so the powder in the case does not fly around?
  19. During competition sometimes my wilson tactical elite 45 acp mags do not take the gun to slide lock. I just tried them while unloaded and all of them take the gun to slide lock. What could be causing this? Thanks, Don
  20. How do they compare to Rudy with Racing red (to see the red fiber better)? I cant really comment on the decot sunglasses, but everyone I show the racing reds to love them, and they do bring out the red. You can get a superb product at a fraction of the cost. Also with multiple lenses to choose from in one package. whatever club you are shooting at, I am sure thier is someone thier who has a pair, ask to try them on, I think you will like them. My Rudy'a with racing red and photchromic red get here today! Just in time for Texas State and pre practice! cant wait! A rep from Decot said they would be at IDPA Nationals, so I'll compare em there. Thanks! Got my Rudys, cant wait to try them. Was using them to reload and work on the lawn., nice clarity!

  22. Great info, I dont drink alot of caffeine. But will more regurally. Have you tried NOexplode or NOVapor before a match?
  23. Does caffiene help you shoot better especialy for those morning shoots? I dont drink alot of caffeine but took some NOVapor before a match this last weekend and did very poorly. I am thinking of going caff free for Texas State IDPA this weekend.
